The Account Manager (AM) is responsible for the day-to-day management, service, and execution of an assigned book of business. The AM serves as the operational owner of the client experience, partnering closely with Producers, Account Executives, and other internal partners to support new business, renewals, implementations, and ongoing account service.
The Account Manager independently manages assigned accounts with minimal supervision, ensuring all account activities, deliverables, documentation, and communications are completed accurately, efficiently, and within established agency service standards. The ideal candidate combines strong technical insurance knowledge with exceptional organization, communication, problem-solving, and client service skills. This individual takes ownership, proactively identifies issues and opportunities, manages competing priorities and deadlines, and builds strong relationships with clients, carriers, vendors, and internal partners.
- Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for assigned clients, building strong relationships with clients, carriers, vendors, and internal partners
- Respond to client requests involving coverage, eligibility, billing, claims service, policy changes, and certificates
- Proactively communicate timelines, deadlines, and next steps, and identify coverage gaps, risks, and opportunities to expand client relationships
- Own the service execution of new business and renewals, including timelines, applications, submissions, marketing, proposals, and implementation
- Review proposals and renewal materials for accuracy before client presentation, and participate in client meetings as appropriate
- Process endorsements, audits, cancellations, AORs, certificates, finance agreements, and other policy transactions
- Review carrier-produced documents for accuracy and obtain corrections when necessary
- Ensure accurate, timely invoicing, educate clients on billing requirements, and resolve billing discrepancies with carriers
- Maintain complete account records and documentation in the agency management system
- Review Account Coordinator work for accuracy and adherence to procedures
- Stay current on carrier updates, insurance regulations, and industry trends, and engage technical, compliance, or underwriting resources when needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Minimum of 3 years of insurance experience, preferably in account management or client service at an independent agency
- Active P&C insurance license
- Experience with Private Client is preferred
- Strong technical knowledge of insurance products, coverage, markets, and underwriting
- Experience managing a diverse book of business
- Excellent communication, client service, organization, and time-management skills
- Exceptional attention to detail, with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Applied Epic experience strongly preferred
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Professional designations such as CIC, CPCU, CRM, CISR, or ARM preferred
