Sr. Bookkeeper
Fully Remote
Description

Our client, TeKoda Accounting, is looking for a Senior Bookkeeper!

TeKoda Accounting is a fully remote outsourced accounting firm serving a portfolio of small and mid-sized businesses. We are looking for a seasoned bookkeeper who can independently own a recurring client portfolio, deliver an exceptional client experience, and help raise the quality of the team around them.

About TeKoda

We act as an outsourced accounting department for our clients, providing hands-on support across bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting, and day-to-day accounting operations. Our work is not centered on tax preparation; it is centered on helping business owners understand their numbers and feel supported by a responsive, high-touch accounting partner.

We are a small, growing team with a strong commitment to service, flexibility, transparency, and culture. We move quickly when something is not working, encourage every team member to speak up, and believe people should be recognized and celebrated for who they are.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage end-to-end monthly bookkeeping for a portfolio of recurring clients, including smaller businesses and organizations with multiple related entities.
  • Own day-to-day bookkeeping activities including deposits, bank feeds, accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, reconciliations, and maintaining clean, current books.
  • Manage weekly cash-flow tracking and updates for clients who rely on regular visibility into their financial position.
  • Audit client payroll and follow up on payroll tax items and related discrepancies as needed.
  • Handle intercompany accounting entries and support consolidated financial reporting across related entities.
  • Partner with outside CPAs at year-end, including preparation for 1099s, state apportionment data, prior-year corrections, and other pre-tax accounting support.
  • Work within QuickBooks Online as well as each client’s individual systems; learn new platforms quickly and pull accurate reporting from unfamiliar software.
  • Review the work of other bookkeepers through TeKoda’s quality-assurance process, identify errors, and coach team members on how to correct and prevent them.
  • Train and support teammates and contractors, contribute to process improvement, and help keep standard operating procedures current.
  • Track time accurately against client budgets, monitor workload, and proactively communicate when a client or project is trending over scope.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, CPAs, vendors, and teammates while providing a responsive, high-service experience.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of hands-on bookkeeping or accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated experience simultaneously managing a portfolio of 10+ clients is required.
  • Experience in a multi-client Client Accounting Services (CAS), outsourced accounting, bookkeeping, tax, or CPA firm environment is required.
  • Expert-level QuickBooks Online skills.
  • Comfort working in and learning a variety of client systems, including expense, payroll, AP, and reporting platforms such as Ramp and Expensify.
  • Hands-on experience with intercompany accounting, multi-entity environments, and consolidations.
  • Experience reviewing other people’s work and teaching or coaching them through corrections rather than simply fixing issues yourself.
  • Strong organization, follow-through, and deadline management across multiple clients and competing priorities.
  • Clear, thoughtful, written and verbal communication with clients and internal teammates.
  • A strong service mindset and the instinct to go above and beyond for clients.
  • Demonstrated career stability and the ability to thrive in a small, fast-moving remote environment.

Nice to Have

  • Accounting degree, certificate, or relevant coursework.
  • Payroll, 1099, or year-end compliance experience.
  • Experience supporting small-business owners, nonprofits, or other service-focused clients.

Who Thrives Here

Technical skill matters, but culture and client experience matter just as much. The people who thrive at TeKoda tend to be personable, proactive, adaptable, and genuinely energized by helping others. You should enjoy building relationships, communicating with clients, learning new systems, and taking ownership of your work from start to finish.

  • You are client-focused and care about the experience you create, not just the task you complete.
  • You are comfortable managing many moving pieces and speaking up early when something needs attention.
  • You enjoy a collaborative, transparent environment where every voice is encouraged.
  • You can work independently in a fully remote setting while still staying connected to the team.
  • You are flexible, curious, and comfortable with change in a growing small business.
  • You bring positive energy and professionalism without taking yourself too seriously.
