Description
Position Summary
The Electrical Engineer – Pre-Construction supports the planning and technical evaluation of renewable energy projects. This role reviews electrical designs, project requirements, estimates, and construction plans to support safe, cost-effective, and constructible projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Review electrical drawings, designs, specifications, and project requirements.
- Support electrical scopes, estimates, schedules, and proposals.
- Evaluate electrical equipment, materials, and construction requirements.
- Identify design, cost, schedule, and constructability risks.
- Coordinate with engineering, estimating, procurement, construction, and project management teams.
- Support design reviews, value engineering, permitting, and utility coordination.
- Review vendor and subcontractor proposals for technical compliance.
- Provide technical support during the transition from pre-construction to construction.
- Ensure planned electrical work meets applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Experience with electrical engineering, construction, or renewable energy projects preferred.
- Ability to read electrical drawings, one-lines, specifications, and technical documents.
- Knowledge of electrical systems, construction practices, and applicable codes and standards.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant engineering/design software.
Preferred
- Experience with utility-scale BESS, solar, wind, or high-voltage projects.
- PE license or progress toward licensure.
- Experience with estimating, design review, or pre-construction activities.
Work Environment
- Primarily works at active construction sites and project locations, with time spent in field and office environments.
- Regularly works around construction equipment, electrical systems, vehicles, and other site activities.
- May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, dust, noise, uneven terrain, and varying site conditions.
- Requires compliance with company and project safety policies and applicable site requirements.
- May require travel to project sites
- Work schedules may vary based on project needs and construction activities.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods at active construction sites.
- Ability to navigate uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, and other areas of construction sites.
- Ability to safely work around construction equipment and electrical systems.
- Ability to wear required PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, high-visibility vest, gloves, and safety footwear.
- Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull materials or equipment.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with field personnel, contractors, engineers, and project teams.
