Position Summary

The Civil Engineer supports the planning and technical evaluation of renewable energy construction projects. This role reviews civil designs, site conditions, plans, specifications, estimates, and construction requirements to support safe, cost-effective, and constructible projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review civil drawings, site plans, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Support civil scopes, estimates, schedules, and proposals.
  • Evaluate grading, drainage, roads, foundations, earthwork, and site development requirements.
  • Identify design, cost, schedule, and constructability risks.
  • Conduct site assessments and support field investigations as needed.
  • Coordinate with engineering, estimating, procurement, construction, and project management teams.
  • Review subcontractor and vendor proposals for technical compliance.
  • Support design reviews, value engineering, permitting, and constructability reviews.
  • Provide technical support during the transition from pre-construction to construction.
  • Ensure civil work meets applicable codes, standards, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with civil engineering, construction, or renewable energy projects preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, site plans, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Knowledge of grading, drainage, earthwork, roads, foundations, and construction practices.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant engineering/design software.


Preferred

  • Experience with utility-scale BESS, solar, wind, or other energy construction projects.
  • PE license or progress toward licensure.
  • Experience with estimating, design review, constructability, or pre-construction activities.


Work Environment

  • Primarily works at active construction sites and project locations, with time spent in field and office environments.
  • Regularly works around construction equipment, vehicles, heavy machinery, and other site activities.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dust, noise, uneven terrain, and varying site conditions.
  • Travel to project sites and occasional overnight stays.
  • Must comply with company and project safety requirements.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods at active construction sites.
  • Ability to navigate uneven terrain, stairs, and other areas of construction sites.
  • Ability to safely work around construction equipment and active work areas.
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, high-visibility vest, gloves, and safety footwear.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull materials or equipment.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
