We design and build backup power packages, including tanks and enclosures, for healthcare, industrial, and technology-driven customers that require uninterrupted power at all times. Job Summary
The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for coordinating the receipt, inspection, storage, movement, documentation, and shipment of materials, customer-supplied equipment, generators, components, and finished products. This role ensures materials are properly identified, tracked, stored, and delivered while maintaining compliance with company procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements.
The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with drivers, production teams, material handlers, and customers. This position plays a critical role in supporting inventory accuracy, production flow, and on-time delivery performance.
Essential Job Functions
Receiving Operations
Direct drivers to designated check-in and unloading areas.
Inspect incoming generators, parts, equipment, and materials for damage or discrepancies.
Document and photograph damaged shipments when required.
Operate forklifts and assist with unloading activities.
Receive and process customer-supplied generators, breakers, parts, and accessories.
Verify received materials against shipping documents and purchase requirements.
Label incoming materials, generators, and customer-supplied equipment appropriately.
Document receiving activities and maintain accurate records.
Stage and store materials in designated locations.
Photograph and identify incoming customer-supplied equipment and materials.
Ensure materials are properly protected and secured during storage.
Follow all established procedures, checklists, and safety requirements.
Shipping Operations
Coordinate drivers and transportation providers during pickup activities.
Direct drivers to designated loading areas.
Locate, stage, and prepare materials and finished products for shipment.
Verify all required materials, accessories, and ship-loose items are included with outgoing shipments.
Inspect finished products prior to shipment and coordinate quality concerns as needed.
Clean and prepare units prior to loading when required.
Complete shipping documentation and maintain shipment records.
Photograph outgoing shipments and verify load securement.
Monitor loading activities and ensure products are properly secured for transport.
Follow shipping schedules to ensure on-time deliveries.
Maintain accurate shipping records and supporting documentation.
Yard & Material Storage Management
Maintain organized storage locations for generators, customer-supplied materials, and finished products.
Ensure generators and materials are properly labeled, identified, covered, and protected.
Perform routine inspections of stored materials and protective coverings.
Maintain shipping racks, containers, storage areas, and related equipment.
Support inventory counts and inventory control activities as required.
Monitor storage conditions and address potential issues promptly.
Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout yard and shipping areas.
Support material traceability and inventory accuracy initiatives.
Safety & Operational Support
Operate forklifts and material handling equipment safely and effectively.
Work closely with Production, Scheduling, Material Handling, Quality, and Operations teams to support workflow requirements.
Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
Maintain awareness of surroundings, equipment movement, and workplace hazards.
Report unsafe conditions, damaged materials, and operational concerns promptly.
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to shipping, receiving, inventory control, and logistics activities.
Assist with additional logistics and warehouse responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Minimum 1 year of shipping and receiving, warehouse, logistics, or inventory control experience.
Experience working in a manufacturing, warehouse, distribution, or industrial environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to complete documentation accurately and maintain records.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
Basic computer skills and experience with inventory or shipping documentation.
Ability to apply common-sense understanding to detailed written and verbal instructions.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Ability to safely work around forklifts, trailers, and material handling equipment.
Background check and pre-employment drug screening required.
Highly Preferred
Forklift certification and operating experience.
Experience receiving large industrial equipment or oversized materials.
Experience with rigging and equipment placement.
Experience supporting manufacturing or fabrication operations.
Experience with inventory management systems or ERP software.
Port, transportation, or logistics industry experience.
Experience supporting startup operations, facility expansions, or new plant launches.
Preferred
Knowledge of shipping documentation and bill of lading requirements.
Experience with customer-supplied material management.
Experience performing cycle counts and inventory audits.
Understanding of warehouse organization and material flow best practices.
Experience supporting inventory control and material traceability programs.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a warehouse, manufacturing, and outdoor yard environment. The role involves exposure to elevated noise levels, changing weather conditions, dust, fumes, airborne particles, and material handling activities within OSHA-permissible limits.
Employees regularly work around forklifts, trailers, loading docks, generators, storage racks, cranes, and production traffic. Duties may require working on concrete, gravel, ramps, inclines, and uneven surfaces throughout the facility.
Required PPE must be worn at all times, and strict adherence to company safety procedures is required.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on concrete, gravel, and uneven surfaces.
Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to climb in and out of trailers and navigate ramps, inclines, and dock areas.
Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive motions associated with shipping, receiving, and documentation activities.
Ability to safely operate forklifts and work around moving equipment.
Visual acuity sufficient to inspect incoming and outgoing materials, verify serial numbers, read documentation, and identify damaged products.
Ability to safely navigate active warehouse, yard, and manufacturing environments.
