Join our team! Windsor Hospitality thrives in building hospitality careers. We want to design a path of professional growth and give you the keys to such success. We are recognized as a strong partner with warm-hearted hospitality staff nationwide. Windsor Hospitality is looking for their newest Preventative Maintenance Technician!
About this Location:
This position is located at the Embassy Suites by Hilton in San Luis Obispo, CA. Nestled in the heart of California’s Central Coast, our all-suite hotel offers convenient access to downtown SLO, local wineries, and scenic hiking trails. Surrounded by rolling hills and just minutes from the beach, our property provides the perfect home base for guests to relax, explore, and experience the charm of the Central Coast.
Why do we need you?
As our Preventative Maintenance Technician, you'll own the preventive maintenance program in our guest suites. Every suite gets a complete top-to-bottom inspection and service on a regular schedule, so small problems get fixed before a guest ever notices.
What you will do:
- Inspect and adjust entry, connecting, closet, and bathroom doors so they swing smoothly and latch securely. Check closers, hinges, deadbolts, night latches, peepholes, smoke seals, and door sweeps, and maintain our electronic and digital-key door locks.
- Service in-room heating and cooling units using proper lockout/tagout procedures. Replace filters, clean coils, fan assemblies, drain pans, and drain lines, test thermostats, and measure air temperatures to confirm each unit is performing correctly.
- Repair running or leaking toilets, faucets, and slow drains. Sanitize shower heads and aerators, re-caulk tubs, showers, and vanities, test GFCI outlets and exhaust fans, and verify hot water temperatures.
- Test outlets, USB ports, lamps, and switches, and make sure lighting is the correct LED color and wattage. Tighten beds, headboards, furniture, and TV mounts, confirm drapes provide full blackout, and check TVs, remotes, phones, clocks, and safes.
- Clean refrigerator coils and check gaskets, and inspect microwaves, coffee makers, sinks, cabinets, and sofa beds.
- Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and document results. Inspect sprinkler heads, and confirm ADA devices, speakers, and strobes are in place.
- Touch up paint, patch walls, flag flooring and ceiling issues, and inspect balcony doors, railings, and lighting.
- Log completed work in our maintenance system, report larger repairs to the Chief Engineer, and respond to guest requests with a friendly, professional approach.
- Always be in uniform when working on the property, including wearing a name identification badge.
- Support and adhere to the core values, the mission statement, service fundamentals, and guest service philosophy as defined by the company.
- All other duties as assigned by a manager or supervisor.
You're a great fit if you:
- Have a positive, can-do attitude and want to learn a skilled trade
- Are comfortable with basic hand tools (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or painting experience is a plus but not required)
- Notice the loose screw and the tiny drip, because this job rewards attention to detail
- Are dependable and can work independently through a daily suite schedule
- Take safety seriously, including lockout/tagout, ladder safety, and chemical handling
- Can lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, kneel, crouch, and stay on your feet for most of a shift
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
