Job Summary
This role will report to Carina’s Population Health Director and will serve as the team’s representative to Carina’s Data Operations Team. The Healthcare Reporting Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of clinical data management and data source development for clinical report development that supports Carina’s Community Analytics Platform. Candidates must have experience in Microsoft SQL database development, Snowflake, clinical data integration, healthcare code systems, multiple healthcare data streams, reporting, and documentation.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to translate clinical report requirements into technical specifications.
- Translate technical report specifications into high quality, clinical reporting data sources to be utilized by Carina Health Network business intelligence developers for production in the Community Analytics Platform.
- Provide automated solutions whenever possible and proactively suggest alternative solutions.
- Integrate standard healthcare code sets like LOINC, ICD-9/10-CM, CPT4, HCPCS, and SNOMED.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external and other stakeholders to maintain, enhance, and troubleshoot existing health reporting across programs.
- Ingest, normalize, and maintain population cohorts from a variety of input sources consistent with database management best practices.
- Develop data validation reports and analyses where applicable.
- Develop technical documentation of reports, processes, and automations.
- Utilize up-to-date knowledge of databases and data quality best practices to deliver effective reporting.
- Remain knowledgeable in healthcare data standards, measures, and code sets as well as applicable data privacy practices and legal requirements.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in data analytics, computer science, public health, or other health or technology-related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
- Works in a SQL environment, especially with data transformation, stored procedures, and query development.
- Knowledge of data warehousing best practices, concepts, and processes.
- Ability to work with multiple complex data sources and collaborate with internal teams to identify solutions to ensure project success.
- Expertise in developing reporting for business intelligence solutions, knowledge of data structures, best practices, and health care related quality or performance measures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated change management experience.
- Knowledge of common healthcare code sets like LOINC, ICD-9/10-CM, CPT4, HCPCS, and SNOMED.
- Demonstrated ability to set and meet project timelines and deliverables.
- Effective interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to interact with various levels of personnel using plain language.
- Is flexible, organized, self-directed, able to prioritize multiple tasks, and able to manage a full workload.
- Experienced in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Operating Systems.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and maximum accountability.
