The Human Resources Specialist assists with the execution of HR functions such as
recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance,
onboarding/offboarding and other projects to support organizational goals.
Job Duties:
Recruitment and Staffing: Partners with Recruiting Specialist in posting job openings,
reviewing applications, conducting candidate screenings, updating applicant status in
HRIS system, coordinating with hiring managers, and creating offer letters. Attends job
fairs and other events, as requested.
Employee Relations: Serves as a point of contact for employee questions and
concerns, assists in resolving disputes and managing disciplinary procedures, fosters
and models a positive work environment.
Benefits and Compensation: Provides support in administering employee benefits,
retirement plan and compensation programs while ensuring compliance with legal
requirements. Maintains vendor relationships with insurance providers and/or brokers.
Fields benefit questions and troubleshoots concerns from employees.
Training and Development: Assists in coordinating and tracking employee training.
Initiates communication and follow-up to employees and supervisors for ongoing
professional development.
Compliance and Record keeping: Ensures all employee records are accurate and
maintained in compliance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements. Responds
to requests for unemployment compensation and conducts regular file audits.
HRIS and Data Management: Manages and serves as a “subject matter expert” for HR
information systems, supports payroll and administrative processes, prepares
reports and data, as requested.
Employee Onboarding/Offboarding: Oversees employee onboarding and offboarding
processes. Facilitates orientation to new hires regarding polices and procedures,
benefits and other organizational programs.
Retention: Suggests, promotes and helps execute employee recruitment, retention and
wellness programs.
General and Other: Creates and updates forms, spreadsheets, presentations and other
departmental tools.
*Completes other duties and projects, as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma/G.E.D. required.
- 3-5 years’ experience within a multi-faceted HR department required.
- Prior experience with HRIS systems such as Paylocity, Workday, ADP or similar platform required.
- Must possess strong knowledge of local, state and federal personnel laws in addition to Microsoft applications.
- Experience in servicing multiple remote locations is preferred.

Travel Requirements:
Occasional travel between work locations and agency events/training/conferences may be required.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
The HR Specialist generally works within an office setting, occasional travel for recruitment events, training, career fairs. etc. may be required. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer and must be able to lift up to15 pounds at
times.
