Description
Position Summary: The Calendar Operator is responsible for all processes of the calendar machine. This person is the leader of this machine and ensures that all members work together as a team.
Responsibilities:
- Controls all aspects of production on the machine (recipe and production conditions)
- Monitors all other positions of the machine and helps or directs assistance to areas when needed
- Assists winding operator in connection of fabric rolls needed for next step of production.
- Keeping all loose material off floor and cleaning under rolls
- Operates powered equipment needed during material processing
- Follows strict safety procedures, including proper lockout and shutdown procedures for cleaning and
- inspecting of machinery
- TPM responsibility for machinery (cleaning, lubricating, and maintaining “like new” machine status)
- Ensures that work area is free of safety hazards and clutter
- Become part of the team with other members on the machine and take ownership of process and problems
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Shift Leader, Supervisor, or Production Manager
Requirements
Qualifications: Listed below are the minimum and/or desired qualifications of the position including education, work experience and knowledge & skills that are required to perform satisfactorily in the position:
Education and Work Experience:
- High School diploma or GED preferred
- A combination of relevant education and experience can be considered in lieu of exact education and/or experience requirements.
- At least 1 year manufacturing experience
Knowledge and Skills:
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with all co-workers and leadership
- Ability to physically operate mixing and/or calendar or other related machinery and equipment
- Self-motivated with an ability to work at a fast and efficient pace
- Ability to read and understand information stated on work orders in English
- Ability to perform workplace math skills, such as measurements and adding/subtracting/multiplying/dividing whole numbers with or without decimals and fractions
- Display a positive attitude toward safety practices and procedures to insure personal safety and the safety of others, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Physical Demands:
- Walking, standing, crouching, kneeling, bending, and/or stretching for extended periods of time, up to 10-12 hours per day
- Good hand-eye coordination
- Able to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work under variable environmental conditions within the plant, such as: temperature instability in sections of the plant, atmospheric conditions; including fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, vapors, or noise
Salary Description
$16-$17 an hour
