Clinical Account Manager – Ohio

About the Role
This is an opportunity for an audiologist who enjoys combining clinical expertise with relationship building, account management, and business development.
As a Clinical Account Manager, you will develop strong relationships with audiologists, surgeons, clinicians, hospital teams, and other hearing healthcare professionals while providing expert clinical and product support for MED-EL hearing solutions. You will also partner with regional teammates to develop business strategies, support existing accounts, identify growth opportunities, and achieve regional sales objectives.
What You’ll Do
Account Management & Business Development
- Develop and execute business strategies aligned with MED-EL's mission, goals, and sales philosophy.
- Achieve assigned sales goals while effectively managing budgetary expectations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with audiologists, surgeons, clinicians, hospital and medical center professionals, and other professionals supporting candidates and recipients of MED-EL hearing solutions.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities that contribute to territory growth.
- Partner with the Regional Director and regional teammates to understand the key decision-makers and purchasing processes within assigned accounts.
- Conduct professional product and service presentations and confidently ask for appropriate customer commitments.
- Collaborate with MED-EL Finance and Reimbursement teams to support the financial performance of the territory.
- Maintain required vendor credentials and remain current on applicable state laws and facility-specific vendor requirements.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive account, contact, market share, and customer activity information within the company's CRM.
- Participate in establishing and monitoring sales goals for assigned accounts.
Clinical & Technical Support
- Serve as a trusted clinical resource to hearing healthcare professionals throughout the territory.
- Apply a strong understanding of hearing loss, audiologic and otologic evaluation techniques, and available treatment options.
- Demonstrate knowledge of cochlear implant and middle-ear implant candidacy, including relevant anatomy, disease etiology, indications, and contraindications.
- Provide clinical support for MED-EL products, including programming software across applicable product lines.
- Support clinicians with complex programming cases and assist clinicians and patients through appropriate complaint-handling processes.
- Provide support related to surgical cases, including intraoperative implant electrical evaluations and basic Auditory Response Telemetry.
- Maintain a working knowledge of hearing implant surgical approaches and relevant differences among technologies.
- Provide product demonstrations and training to surgeons, audiologists, audiology students, and other related healthcare professionals.
- Participate in required clinical, technical, product, and sales training.
Territory & Customer Support
- Travel frequently throughout the Ohio territory, including regular clinic visits, customer meetings, conferences, trainings, and other business activities.
- Coordinate travel and customer coverage with regional teammates and MED-EL leadership.
- Partner closely with Customer Service and Reimbursement teams to deliver a high-quality customer experience.
- Support the accurate ordering and timely delivery of products for surgical cases and activations.
- Coordinate appropriate clinical coverage when unable to personally attend an appointment.
- Participate in on-call audiology support as required.
- Represent MED-EL at regional, national, and occasionally international conferences and company-sponsored events as requested.
- Complete required sales activity, expense, and other business reports accurately and on time.
- Maintain accurate CRM documentation and follow applicable company quality, regulatory, and complaint-handling procedures.
- Master's degree or greater in Audiology or equivalent, with relevant education related to hearing disorders and hearing healthcare.
- Ability to communicate clinical and technical information effectively to a variety of professional audiences.
- Comfort with technology, including computers, smartphones, internet-based applications, CRM systems, and other business technology.
- Ability to work collaboratively across sales, clinical, customer service, reimbursement, and other internal teams.
- Professional, courteous, and customer-focused approach when interacting with healthcare professionals, patients, consumers, and the public.
- Ability and willingness to travel greater than 50% throughout the Ohio territory, with occasional travel outside the region.
Preferred Qualifications
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) or equivalent.
- Previous experience in audiology, cochlear implants, hearing implants, hearing healthcare, or a related clinical environment.
- Previous experience working directly with healthcare professionals and/or hospital systems.
- Experience in account management, business development, sales, or customer relationship management within a clinical or medical environment.
