We’re looking for an experienced and compassionate Clinical Services Manager located in or around Fauquier County who is excited to help build and lead our newest hospice team.
This position plays an important role in developing our newest clinical team, shaping its culture, supporting and mentoring staff, and helping us expand compassionate, patient-centered hospice care in the community. Responsibilities:
Patient Care & Clinical Operations
- Oversees the delivery of skilled and non-skilled hospice services to ensure high-quality, patient- and family-centered care.
- Ensures appropriate staffing, caseload distribution, scheduling, and service delivery.
- Maintains clinical competence and provides direct patient care when needed to support patients and the team.
Interdisciplinary Team Leadership
- Leads interdisciplinary team meetings and provides ongoing guidance and direction to IDT members.
- Ensures team members receive appropriate training and maintain required clinical competencies.
Staff Management & Development
- Hires, supervises, coaches, and develops staff in coordination with Human Resources and discipline-specific leadership.
- Oversees scheduling and payroll and monitors staffing needs and employee turnover, satisfaction, and engagement.
- Participates in performance evaluations, ride-along visits, educational requirements, goal setting, and professional development.
Regulatory Compliance, Documentation & Quality
- Ensures services, clinical records, and operations comply with hospice regulations, Conditions of Participation, accreditation requirements, organizational policies, and HIPAA.
- Ensures patient records and information needed for billing are accurate, current, complete, and available in a timely manner.
- Participates in QAPI activities, monitors established quality goals, and supports emergency response planning.
Financial & Resource Management
- Assists with team budget preparation and monitors expenses to support responsible use of organizational resources.
- Oversees direct patient care costs and ancillary services, including labor, medical supplies, medications, DME, pharmacy, and mileage.
Customer Service & Organizational Leadership
- Ensures a high level of customer service and provides prompt service recovery when concerns arise.
- Addresses complaints according to organizational policies and applicable compliance requirements.
- Supports organizational change and fosters an adaptable, positive, and high-performing team environment.
Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Minimum of five years of nursing experience
- Hospice nursing and nursing management experience preferred
- Driver’s license, personal automobile, and current automobile liability insurance
Typical Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
- Work may occur in office, clinical, patient home, or community settings
- Must be able to work in home environments that have difficult working conditions including, but not limited to cramped space, pets, dirt, allergens, smoke, no chairs
- It may be necessary at times for employees to work beyond scheduled work hours to ensure adequate patient care
- Communicate by phone, writing, typing, speaking
- While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel objects, reach, kneel, walk, stand, balance and talk to hear.
- Able to push, pull, or lift 50 pounds, push up to 200 pounds in a wheelchair
- Drive long distances
- Must be prepared to complete EMR at bedside in varied environments
