Landscaper
Description

The Landscaper is responsible for performing grounds maintenance, landscaping services, and landscape design implementation at assigned client properties to maintain attractive, well-maintained exterior spaces. 


This role operates landscaping equipment, performs planting and hardscape work, and ensures all landscaping projects meet client specifications and quality standards. The Landscaper collaborates with team members, follows safety protocols, maintains accurate work records, and adapts to seasonal landscaping demands. 


This position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, knowledge of plants and landscaping practices, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.


Core Responsibilities

  • Mow turf at commercial properties using zero-turn and/or walk-behind mowers, maintaining clean lines and consistent cut height.
  • String trim along walkways, beds, fences, and other areas mowers can't reach.
  • Pull and/or spray weeds in beds, curbs, and hardscape areas.
  • Operate backpack and walk-behind blowers to clear clippings, leaves, and debris from turf and hard surfaces.
  • Prune shrubs to maintain healthy growth and a clean, professional appearance.
  • Plant flowers and other seasonal plantings per property design plans.
  • Follow site safety protocols and property-specific instructions at each stop.
  • Maintain and perform basic upkeep on equipment (blades, filters, fuel, etc.)


Required Competencies 

  • Prior landscaping or groundskeeping experience preferred.
  • Zero-turn and/or walk-behind mower experience strongly preferred.
  • Comfortable operating string trimmers, blowers, and hand tools.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift/carry up to 75 lbs.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a crew.


Education & Experience 


Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1+ year of related outdoor work, landscaping or grounds maintenance, equipment operation, or facilities maintenance experience.
  • Physical ability to lift minimum 50 pounds regularly; capable of performing labor in cold or hot weather conditions for extended periods.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as required by weather events and client needs.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality work.


Preferred:

  • 2+ years of landscaping or grounds maintenance experience. 
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record and no major traffic violations.
  • Experience operating zero-turn and/or walk-behind mowers on commercial properties.
  • Mechanical ability and basic troubleshooting skills.
  • Certification or training in pesticide/herbicide application, if applicable to your weed control process.


Work Environment/Physical & Visual Demands

  • This position works outdoors for the full shit with a variable schedule Monday to Friday and sometimes weekends, typically within standard hours; overtime may be necessary or required. 
  • This position requires extensive contact with people, and local travel required to client locations. 
  • Physical Demands: Lifting/Carrying; Frequently lifts and carries landscaping equipment, bagged materials, and supplies. Pushing/Pulling; Frequently pushes and pulls mowers, carts, and other equipment. Standing/Walking; Constantly stands and walks, including on uneven or sloped terrain, for the entire shift. Bending/Stooping/Kneeling; Frequently bends, stoops, and kneels to plant, weed, and perform ground-level tasks. Reaching; Frequently reaches to trim, prune, and operate equipment at varying heights. Balancing; Maintains balance on slopes, uneven ground, around moving equipment and heavy work, requiring lifting up to 50lbs. 
  • Visual Demands: Visual acuity to perform activities such as depth perception and peripheral vision to safely operate machinery near people, vehicles and obstacles. 
  • Environmental Conditions: This position is subject to be performed primarily outdoors at commercial properties in varying conditions (heat, cold, rain). Exposure to noise, dust, pollen, and landscaping chemicals/ pesticides.
