The Data Scientist – Predictive Analytics will support JANSON’s work to advance Army logistics through predictive analytics, data science, and emerging artificial intelligence capabilities. Working under the guidance of senior data scientists and technical leads, the individual will assist with preparing data, developing and evaluating models, and maintaining analytics products that support logistics and sustainment decisions. This role is designed for an early-career professional who is ready to apply foundational academic, internship, research, or professional experience in an operational environment while building proficiency with platforms such as Palantir Foundry, supervised learning methods, and Generative AI (GenAI) tools.
The candidate must possess an active Secret security clearance or be eligible and able to obtain and maintain one. A candidate without an active clearance may perform authorized unclassified preparatory work while clearance processing is underway.
Key Responsibilities
- Model Development Support: Assist senior team members with building, testing, documenting, and refining predictive models for use cases such as equipment readiness, lead-time estimation, and inventory planning.
- Data Preparation and Quality: Clean, validate, organize, and explore structured and unstructured datasets; support feature engineering and routine data-quality checks.
- Analytics Platform Support: Learn and use Palantir Foundry and related tools to support data pipelines, analyses, dashboards, and reusable analytics products.
- Model Evaluation: Run approved experiments, compare model performance, document results, and identify issues for review by senior technical staff.
- Documentation and Training: Draft and update technical documentation, job aids, user guides, and training materials for predictive analytics tools.
- Product Sustainment: Perform routine updates, testing, version-control activities, and maintenance tasks for existing analytics products and supporting artifacts.

- Programming: Working knowledge of Python and SQL, including experience with common libraries such as Pandas and Scikit-learn gained through coursework or applied projects.
- Problem Solving: Ability to analyze defined problems, follow technical guidance, troubleshoot routine issues, and ask appropriate questions when support is needed.
- Communication: Ability to clearly document work and explain analytical findings to technical and nontechnical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant Coursework or Projects: Coursework, research, or project experience in supply chain analytics, predictive modeling, machine learning, stochastic processes, logistics, or operations research.
- Platform Exposure: Familiarity with Palantir Foundry or another enterprise data, cloud, or analytics platform.
- Government or Military Context: Exposure to Army logistics concepts, GCSS-Army, FED LOG, or government data environments.
- Data Visualization: Experience creating dashboards, reports, or data visualizations using Tableau, Power BI, Python libraries, or integrated platform tools.
- Emerging AI: Academic, project, or practical exposure to Generative AI, large language models, or agent-based workflows.
Job Requirements:
- Secret Security Clearance: Active clearance or eligibility to obtain and maintain one.
- Technical Foundation: Foundational proficiency in Python and SQL, with the ability and willingness to learn additional tools, platforms, and methods.
- Analytical Communication: Ability to summarize data, methods, assumptions, and results in clear language for technical and operational stakeholders.
