Tidewater Fleet Supply / TNT Parts is one of the largest independent distributors of fleet, truck, trailer, and heavy equipment parts in the Southeast. We’re looking for a dependable, customer-focused Counter Sales / Warehouse Associate to join our team.
This is a hands-on position that combines parts sales and customer service with warehouse responsibilities. One part of your day may involve helping a customer identify the right part or taking an order over the phone, while another may involve receiving freight, pulling orders, stocking inventory, or preparing deliveries.
If you enjoy working with customers, know your way around parts, and don’t mind getting your hands dirty when the warehouse needs help, this could be a great fit.
What You’ll Do
As a Counter Sales / Warehouse Associate, you’ll help keep both the customer-facing and warehouse sides of our operation running smoothly.
Customer Service & Parts Sales
- Provide excellent service to walk-in and telephone customers by understanding their needs and helping them find the right parts.
- Identify and locate parts using catalogs, interchange information, and our computer systems.
- Process customer orders accurately and efficiently.
- Answer incoming customer calls and respond to parts, pricing, availability, and order-status questions.
- Locate and source non-stocked parts when needed.
- Process buyouts and special orders for customers.
- Develop your knowledge of our product lines so you can make recommendations and better serve customers.
- Follow up on customer needs and work with other team members to resolve issues quickly.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional counter and customer area.
Warehouse & Inventory
- Receive incoming freight and verify shipments for correct parts, quantities, and condition before products are stocked.
- Report shortages, damages, overages, or other receiving discrepancies.
- Accurately stock products in their assigned warehouse locations.
- Pull and stage customer orders, transfers, and deliveries.
- Verify that outgoing orders have the correct parts and quantities before they leave the branch.
- Load and unload products as needed.
- Assist with cycle counts and other inventory-control activities to help maintain inventory accuracy.
- Safely operate appropriate warehouse equipment, including pallet jacks, hand trucks, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment.
- Complete required receiving, shipping, inventory, and warehouse documentation.
- Follow company procedures for handling regulated or hazardous materials.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse.
- Perform other duties as needed to support the branch and our customers.
What We’re Looking For
The right person for this position is someone who understands that taking care of the customer is the priority, whether that means finding a part at the counter, answering the phone, pulling an order, or helping unload a truck.
We’re looking for someone with:
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Heavy-duty truck, trailer, automotive, equipment, or parts experience preferred.
- Parts counter, warehouse, distribution, or inventory experience preferred.
- The ability to identify and locate parts using catalogs and computer systems.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to order accuracy.
- Good organizational and multitasking skills.
- The ability to work independently while also being a strong team player.
- A willingness to learn our products, systems, and processes.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn inventory and parts systems.
- A dependable work ethic and willingness to help wherever needed within the branch.
Physical Requirements
This is an active position that includes both counter and warehouse responsibilities.
- Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull products weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to move heavier products of up to 300 pounds using appropriate mechanical equipment such as hand trucks, pallet jacks, or hydraulic lifts.
- Regular standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching, squatting, pushing, and pulling.
- Ability to work at a steady pace in a warehouse environment.
- Ability to safely operate warehouse and material-handling equipment after proper training.
- Frequent computer use, telephone communication, and interaction with customers and coworkers.
