CED is well situated in Downers Grove, Illinois - we are located a commuter train ride west of Chicago and a short drive from farmland.


CED's current salary range for this role is $20.00 t0 $26.50 per hour. At CED, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions may vary based upon, but not limited to education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, location and geography. In addition to base salary, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program. CED’s benefit offerings include medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, disability insurance, 401(k) with company match, life insurance and other voluntary supplemental insurance coverages, plus parental leave, adoption assistance, tuition assistance and employer/partner discounts. CED follows a 9/80 work schedule allowing employees to enjoy alternating Fridays off.


JOB SUMMARY

The Maintenance Technician - Entry Level position responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance, facility, and improvement tasks to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production equipment and facility systems. This position will engage in hands-on practical training in facility improvements, finishing work, electrical and plumbing systems, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assist experienced technician with diversified duties to install and maintain production machines, and the company’s physical plant, grounds and equipment
  • Assist experienced technician with emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service
  • Under direct supervision, performs basic mechanic assignments including, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines and facility equipment
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
  • Learn to diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make necessary adjustments
  • Learn regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities
  • Under direct supervision, performs a variety of basic plumbing and electrical maintenance and carpentry functions
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision
  • As assigned by supervision, respond to emergency and unscheduled maintenance needs and perform scheduled repairs and maintenance during planned equipment and facility service
  • Act as escort to external visitors and vendors following established facility security protocols
  • Comply with safety regulations, and perform work in a manner consistent with rigorous company safety standards
  • Maintain clean and organization of workspaces, tools, and equipment

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Comply with government and corporate laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures
  • Ensures 100% compliance with the Chemring Operational Framework, Code of Conduct and U.S. Code of Ethics and Business Conduct

EDUCATION

Requires a high school diploma or GED; associates degree or technical school training preferred


EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 1 year of experience working within a manufacturing or other industrial environment


SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Lawful U.S. person (ITAR restriction)
  • Must be eligible to possess explosives under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 (as amended) as required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) for all employees of Chemring Energetic Devices
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, with a clean driving history
  • Ability to follow instructions and learn troubleshooting and maintenance skills from experienced peers
  • Ability to safely perform assigned work on multiple and concurrent tasks/projects 
  • Work activities require following safe work instructions, and appropriate PPE.
  • Able to perform duties in various physical environments and conditions (e.g., indoors, outdoors, hot/cold areas, heights, confined spaces) 

PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects, weighing up to 75 pounds frequently, with assistance. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles. Vision requirements include: close vision, ability to discern colors, and adjust focus.
