Description

Position Purpose and Objectives

Perform limited transactional duties to serve members by receiving or paying out funds with high degree of accuracy. Maintain accurate transactional records, providing basic cash receipt and payment services in accordance with credit union policies and procedures.


Major Duties and Essential Functions

  • Greet and welcome members to the credit union in a courteous, professional and timely manner, providing prompt, accurate, and efficient member transactions.
  • Process member transactions, including but not limited to deposits, withdrawals, transfers, issuing negotiable items, making loan payments, and check cashing with proper holds where applicable. Assist with mail or email transactions, when available.
  • Ensure all transactions are within set limits based on your teller level. Request assistance from a higher level or your manager teller when applicable.
  • Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all related policies and procedures, rules and regulations for the teller area, including security and robbery procedures.
  • Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all credit union products and services that are handled or promoted by tellers.
  • Actively learn Credit Union products and services in an effort to promote, explain, and cross-sell other credit union services such as consumer and mortgage loans, IRAs, certificates, safe deposit boxes, debit and credit cards, on-line banking, traveler’s checks, and money orders.
  • Balance cash drawer at the end business day. Research and resolve discrepancies. Report any discrepancies/outages to the supervisor as necessary.
  • Ensure that the teller station is properly stocked with forms, supplies, brochures, etc.
  • Check night depository bags and record proper information according to credit union procedures.
  • Remain compliant with all financial laws and regulations including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) as they apply to the duties of the position.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Specific knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position:

Working knowledge of Credit Union products and services; Ability to analyze member accounts and suggest products and services to enhance the member’s financial health; Basic computer skills; Ability to process transactions accurately and balance a teller drawer daily


Education:

High-school diploma or equivalent


Experience:

Minimum 6 months experience in a sales and service environment
