SurfacePrep is seeking a Field Service Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial finishing equipment throughout the Northeast. This remote, customer-facing role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical aptitude who enjoys hands-on work, independent problem-solving, and building strong customer relationships.
What You'll Do
- Install industrial finishing equipment, including:
- Paint and powder coating booths
- Industrial ovens
- Ducting and ventilation systems
- Pumps, spray systems, and related equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance and equipment inspections.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, airflow, and pump-related issues.
- Work directly with customers to help ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
- Complete service reports and documentation accurately and on time.
- Follow company and customer safety procedures and maintain a professional presence on-site.
- Partner with internal teams to support equipment installations, projects, and service needs.
What We're Looking For
We value a range of technical backgrounds and are looking for candidates with strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and a hands-on approach.
- Experience in field service, equipment installation, industrial maintenance, HVAC, mechanical systems, or related technical environments.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and installation layouts.
- Experience working with industrial equipment, pumps, ventilation systems, or airflow applications.
- Familiarity with paint and powder coating systems is a plus.
- Electrical or controls experience is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities in a field-based environment.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regularly throughout New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania, and New York.
Schedule, Travel & Vehicle Benefits
- Standard schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
- Regional travel throughout New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania, and New York.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support customer installations and planned shutdowns.
- Monthly vehicle stipend provided.
- Mileage reimbursement for eligible business travel in accordance with company policy.

- Ability to lift and install equipment components.

- Ability to work at heights or in confined spaces when required.
