Somerville YMCA is seeking a part-time Food Worker to support daily meal service for our Preschool program. This position is responsible for receiving, organizing and distributing meals and maintaining a clean and safe food-service area.
Schedule: Approximately 2-4 hours per day (9am-1pm)
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and organize daily food and milk deliveries.
- Prepare and distribute meals, snacks and milk to preschool classrooms.
- Maintain required meal counts and basic food-service records.
- Monitor food temperatures and follow food-safety and sanitation procedures.
- Maintain food and supply inventory and communicate when items need to be reordered.
- Follow allergy and dietary accommodation procedures.
- Clean and sanitize food-service areas, carts and equipment.
- Properly store or dispose of food following meal service.
- Complete required food-service and CACFP training and documentation, as applicable.
- Communicate food-delivery or meal-service concerns to the Preschool Program Director.
- Perform other related food-service duties as assigned.
Requirements
Desired Skills & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Food-service, school or childcare experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation preferred.
- Dependable, organized and able to follow established procedures.
- Ability to complete basic meal counts and records accurately.
- Ability to lift and transport food and meal-service supplies.
- Must complete required YMCA and food-service trainings.
