JOB SUMMARY
The Supervisor, Quality for Alloy Surfaces Company (ASC) oversees the daily operations of the Quality Assurance function by supervising quality personnel, supporting the implementation of quality systems, and ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory, and company requirements. This position is responsible for executing departmental goals and objectives established by leadership while promoting a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise quality efforts and continuous improvement initiatives in support of the ASC’s strategy and objectives.
- Share the company’s vision, demonstrate company values consistently and lead by example
- Monitor and report quality Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
- In coordination with the Director of Quality, develop and implement quality plans and standards, and coordinate quality activities such as the non-conformance process, Supplier Quality and Development, Program Quality support, Incoming Inspection, Final Inspection and DCMA coordination
- Provide support and coaching in the development of improvement efforts, assist team and key business partners in driving quality improvements based on customer data
- Provide day-to-day supervision to employees, along with time approvals, recommend objectives, performance management, conflict resolution, motivating, training and coaching
- Support the implementation of new quality processes, tools, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Assure compliance with corporate & local government safety, laws, regulations, health & environmental rules, policies & procedures. Escalate concerns to the Director as appropriate
- Work within the Quality Management System to standardize and maintain AS9100 / ISO9001 Certification
- Work closely and effectively with functional teams to ensure we meet customers’ expectations
- Recommend revisions for standard operational procedures and working practices, e.g. standard work
- Support the implementation of quality policies, procedures, work instructions, and best practices to improve operational performance
- Direct daily workflow and priorities of the Quality team to ensure inspection, testing, and quality objectives are achieved
- Coach personnel and cross-functional teams in structured problem-solving and continuous improvement methodologies
- Assist with the Root Cause Failure Analysis and the implementation of permanent corrective actions to mitigate probability of re-occurrence. Track ongoing failures and drive corrective actions to timely completion
- Use appropriate measurement, analysis and evaluation methods to accurately identify and document improvements
- Supervise incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities to ensure products meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements

- Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to the Code of Conduct, U.S. Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, and the Chemring Operational Framework

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
- Provide direct supervision for the Quality team personnel
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
- Bachelor’s degree in quality, Engineering, or related field
- Six Sigma Green Belt / Lean Six Sigma training preferred
- RCCM / RCCA structured problem-solving training
- ASQ Certifications preferred: Quality Manager/Organizational Excellence, Quality Engineer, Six Sigma Black Belt, Quality Auditor
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in Quality within a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably aerospace or defense
- Three or more years of experience leading or supervising quality personnel in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience supporting U.S. Government contracting activities, including FAR, DFARS, and DCMA requirements
- Experience implementing and maintaining quality systems, procedures, and work instructions supporting manufacturing operations
- Experience with AS9100/ISO9001
ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be eligible to obtain and/or maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance commensurate with the level of facility clearance
- Strong interpersonal, communication, influencing, and organizational skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to apply sound judgment, initiative, and creativity to complex technical challenges
- Proven ability to develop quality systems and procedures supporting new products from prototype through full-rate production
- Ability to develop reports, business correspondence, technical documentation, and quality procedures
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing processes, inspection methods, testing, and Q/A principles
- Strong decision-making skills and a results-driven approach
- Experience in reporting on key quality metrics
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, ERP, and inventory/warehouse management software
PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects, weighing up to 10 pounds occasionally and/or a negligible amount of weight frequently. Involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Use of computer.
