JOB SUMMARY
The Quality Inspector for Alloy Surfaces Company (ASC) supports the daily operations of the Quality Assurance function by performing product and electronics testing and inspections in accordance with applicable standard procedures and requirements documents. The Quality Inspector is responsible for measuring parts with the appropriate and applicable measurement instrument, conducting visual inspection of parts per governing documents, and supporting compliance with customer specifications, internal quality system, regulatory requirements, and applicable law.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform tests and/or inspections utilizing standard and special test/inspection equipment on in-process, final, and supplier parts
- Calculate data using mathematical equations
- Read and interpret technical data and drawings, prepare, and maintain inspection/test records as required by established procedures
- Perform calibrations of test and measuring equipment using standards traceable to NIST; maintain standards in an acceptable condition
- Perform inspection of products using standard and specialized inspection equipment (i.e. micrometers, calipers, scales, height gages, gage pins, gage blocks, surface comparators, multi-meters, balances, and other standard tools, gages, and instruments)
- Determine accept/reject decisions and document non-conformances accordingly
- Perform specialized inspection and testing when trained and certified, if applicable (i.e. NDI, CMM, universal test machines, etc.)
- Support test and inspection process improvements
- Prepare test/inspection reports as required
- Supports the internal audits as required
- Provide recommendations to engineering and supervision for improvements to methods, products and facilities
- Assist in the development of procedures and techniques used for testing and inspections

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
- Associate’s degree or technical degree/certification, or related experience
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Quality within a regulated manufacturing environment, in the areas of auditing, quality systems coordination, or inspection
- Experience supporting U.S. Government contracting activities, including FAR, DFARS, and DCMA requirements preferred
ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be eligible to obtain and/or maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance commensurate with the level of facility clearance
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to apply sound judgment, initiative, and creativity to complex technical challenges
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, inspection methods, testing, and quality assurance principles
- Knowledge of AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 or equivalent quality management system
- Experience reporting on key quality metrics
- Experience using quality improvement tools - mistake-proofing/poke-yoke, 5-S, visual management aids, capability studies, A3 problem analysis tools, etc
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects, weighing up to 10 pounds occasionally and/or a negligible amount of weight frequently. Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Use of computer.
