Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the oversight of the Medical Director, the Nurse Practitioner conducts clinical assessment
and MOUD induction on the Mobile Medication Unit and at the clinic. The Nurse Practitioner
completes DSM-5-TR based assessment, co-occurring screening, and structured overdose risk
assessment, reviews the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program, and, through shared decision
making, determines the appropriate FDA-approved medication and initiates treatment when
clinically appropriate.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
- Conduct DSM-5-TR based clinical assessment and establish OUD diagnosis and
- individualized treatment plans.
- Screen for co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders and complete
- structured overdose risk assessment.
- Check the New York State PDMP for each new admission and document results.
- Initiate MOUD, including first methadone dose on the unit when clinically appropriate,
- under Medical Director oversight.
- Provide shared decision-making so individuals have a genuine choice of FDA-approved
- medications.
- Coordinate rapid linkage to clinic-based ongoing dosing and care; maintain timely EHR
- documentation.
Requirements
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current New York State licensure as a Nurse Practitioner and current DEA registration.
- Buprenorphine-prescribing authority and completion of required OUD training.
- Experience providing MOUD or treating individuals with opioid use disorder.
- Willingness to work on a mobile medication unit and a flexible schedule including early
- mornings.
JOB SETTING:
- Office and mobile setting.
- Periodically functions within a thirty (30) foot motorized Mobile Medication Unit;
- temperature-controlled for inclement weather.
- Must possess sight, hearing, and manual senses, or prosthetics that ensure completion
- of the essential functions of the position.
- Occasionally must lift a maximum of 10 lbs.
