POSITION SUMMARY


The Floor Technician plays an important role in creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our residents, team members, and visitors. This position is responsible for maintaining floors throughout the community while following established cleaning, safety, and infection control practices.

Working as part of the Environmental Services team, the Floor Technician helps ensure resident rooms and common areas are maintained to a high standard while always respecting resident privacy, dignity, and comfort.


*The position is full-time; the schedule is 6 a.m.- 2 pm and requires EOW availbility!


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform routine floor care throughout resident rooms, hallways, common areas, and other designated spaces, including sweeping, mopping, buffing, stripping, and waxing.
  • Follow established daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic floor-maintenance schedules.
  • Deep clean, strip, and wax tiled floors according to the community’s preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Safely prepare work areas, including moving furniture and coordinating with team members when resident assistance is needed.
  • Collect and dispose of facility trash according to established schedules and procedures.
  • Properly operate, clean, and maintain floor-care equipment and promptly report equipment concerns or needed repairs.
  • Follow infection prevention, safety, hygiene, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Complete required cleaning and maintenance documentation accurately and on time.
  • Respect resident privacy, dignity, preferences, and individual needs while working in resident areas.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment.
  • Report safety concerns, resident concerns, equipment issues, or other conditions that may affect completion of assigned work.
  • Participate in required training, emergency preparedness activities, and other community initiatives as assigned.
  • Perform additional related duties as directed by the Housekeeping Director.
Requirements

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

Education and certificates:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Willingness to complete all required employment, safety, infection prevention, and skills training as assigned by the community.

Experience, Competencies, and Skills:

  • Previous experience in long-term care, senior living, healthcare, hospitality, or a similar environment is preferred.
  • Floor-care or commercial cleaning experience, including familiarity with buffing, stripping, and waxing floors, is preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to follow instructions, safety procedures, and documentation requirements.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations as needed for the position.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to cleanliness, safety, and quality.
  • Ability to work independently, follow established schedules, and appropriately prioritize assigned responsibilities.
  • Dependable team player with positive interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally and respectfully with residents, families, visitors, and team members.
  • Ability to safely operate and care for cleaning and floor-maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate sensitivity to resident privacy and dignity.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, or additional hours when operational needs require.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including prolonged standing and walking; bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, and pulling; and lifting or moving at least 35 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
