Job Description:

The Medical Records Custodian at Next Level Medical is responsible for maintaining and managing patient medical records while ensuring the confidentiality, accuracy, and accessibility of these records. Reporting directly to the Director of Communications, this role plays a critical part in supporting the organization's healthcare services while upholding our core values of Service-Excellence, Teamwork, Integrity, Innovation, and Compassion.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize, maintain, and manage patient medical records, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timely accessibility of information
  • Process requests for medical records from patients, healthcare providers, insurance companies, and other authorized parties in accordance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Utilize the organization's electronic health record (EHR) system to input, update, and retrieve patient information as needed
  • Collaborate with internal clinical teams to address any discrepancies, missing information, or other issues related to medical records
  • Ensure strict adherence to privacy and confidentiality standards, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to stay informed about industry best practices, regulatory changes, and EHR system updates

Pay Range:

The salary range for the Medical Records Custodian position is $30,000 - $40,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.


FLSA Status:

This position is classified as Non-Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Medical Records, or a related field preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience in medical records management or a related role
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA regulations, and medical records management best practices
  • Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent organizational, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
