Description

General Summary:

Under the general direction/supervision of the Athletic Director, assumes responsibility for planning and administering specified sports programs and related activities, including coaching an interscholastic athletic team and performing other duties directly related to this position description. The job expectations below aren’t intended to encompass the entire aspect nor limit the scope of the position.


Description of Basic Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Plans and directs practices and training sessions
  • Teaches basic skills and knowledge essential to the performance of the athletes
  • Provides individual and team counseling and motivation
  • Responsible for ensuring all athletes in the program are competing and behaving according to the expectations stated in the FWC Athletic Handbook
  • Plans for and directs the team at scheduled contests and postseason tournaments
  • Makes arrangements for transportation of team to contests and supervises team while traveling to and from contests
  • Supervises team members in locker room areas when applicable
  • Plans and directs the acquisition, issuance, maintenance, and inventorying of uniforms and equipment.
  • Responsible for ensuring all athletes are in compliance with TAPPS, district, and state requirements (will receive assistance from athletic department)
  • Maintains individual and team results/records/stats and distributes necessary information to TAPPS and the athletic office
  • Assists in preparations/administering of athletic budget(s)
  • Assists in planning/direction of end-of-season banquet
  • Meets and confers with parents as required
  • Attends clinics and workshops to keep abreast of rule changes and to improve coaching skills
  • Establishes and maintains a good leadership model and demonstrates high standards of sportsmanlike conduct
