We are seeking an Accounting & Finance Analyst to join our Finance team. This position plays important role at the firm, accountable for a broad range of tasks including daily accounting responsibilities, regular financial reporting requirements, client billing, invoicing, accounts payable review/approval, expense management, general ledger maintenance, month end close processes (or tasks), audit support, and financial compliance. The Accounting & Finance Analyst also plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of the firm's day-to-day financial operations and regularly assists with strategic initiatives such as internal control enhancements and process automation.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Learn and become an expert in Edgeworth’s financial accounting system (Sage Intacct), as well as our timekeeping and staffing management systems.
- Support month-end and fiscal year-end closing activities, including balance sheet review, adjusting journal entries, and ad hoc account reconciliations.
- Assist in preparation and review of monthly accrual basis financial statements. Review and explain material expense variances across time periods.
- Prepare general and adjusting journal entries; create and maintain general ledger support schedules.
- Maintain fixed assets schedule and reconcile to financial and tax reports.
- Interface with outside tax accounting firm to provide reports and schedules in support of the firm’s calendar year tax returns.
- Maintain documentation to support audits, compliance reviews and regulatory filings.
- Assist with revenue, project, and billing reconciliations to ensure completeness and accuracy of client invoicing.
- Monitor, assess, and report on internal financial controls.
- Support preparation of department expense budget templates for review and completion with department heads.
- Generate draft client bills monthly for a select group of clients, and work with project administrators to finalize and distribute to outside counsel and clients (per
- engagement letter).
- Monitor accounts receivable aging and assist with client collections and follow-up efforts as needed.
- Identify and implement opportunities to re-engineer, automate, and optimize accounting and financial processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, data integrity, and reporting.
- Support the integration and optimization of the firm’s financial and operational systems, with a focus on improving data flow and consistency across platforms and reducing manual processes and duplicate data entry.
- Assist with the client and matter intake process, including performing conflicts checks, researching and identifying potential conflicts, and coordinating with appropriate stakeholders to resolve or escalate issues prior to engagement.
- Assist with and/or perform other ad hoc financial reporting, duties and assignments as requested by the Director of Finance.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field (CPA designation preferred).
- Between 2-5 years of professional experience in accounting, finance, or a related role.
- Working knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience with accounting and expense management software (e.g., Sage Intacct, Concur)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience with other MS Office Suite products.
- Experience with implementing special projects, such as financial systems integration or ERP rollout.
- Excellent attention to detail required, as well as strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while adhering to deadlines.
- Strong customer service skills, including communications and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain and protect confidential and sensitive employee and firm information.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $78,000 - $93,000 per year. The base pay offered will be determined by factors such as experience, skills, training, locations, certifications, and education. In addition to the base salary, this role may be eligible for a performance-based bonus.
