Position Summary and Essential Functions
The Senior Associate, Editorial Management is the hands-on writing, editing, messaging, and editorial operations lead within OFN's Strategic Communications team. Reporting to the Vice President, Content Strategy, this role turns organizational priorities, approved strategy, research, policy developments, member impact, and executive direction into clear, compelling, accurate content across OFN's platforms and channels.
The role owns the quality and day-to-day execution of OFN's editorial pipeline: writing and editing high-priority content, strengthening framing and message discipline, maintaining the enterprise editorial calendar and Asana workflows, and moving work from assignment through review, approval, and publication with clear ownership, deadlines, version control, and final quality assurance. This is an execution-first role for an experienced editor who builds strong fluency in CDFIs, community finance, public policy, capital access, and economic opportunity.
OFN is the nation's leading investment intermediary and network of CDFIs serving rural, urban, and Native communities across the United States. With over $1 billion in total assets under management, OFN manages a national membership network of over 490 mission-driven lenders and CDFIs, including community development loan funds, credit unions, green banks, community development banks, minority depository institutions, and venture capital funds. OFN is a trusted investment partner to the public, private, and philanthropic sectors — foundations, corporations, banks, government agencies, and others. For more than 40 years, our team has helped partners invest in communities to catalyze change and create economic opportunities for people and places traditional finance doesn't reach.

Key Responsibilities
Writing & Editorial Production
- Write, edit, and refine high-impact content, including web, blog, email, newsletters, social, press materials, speeches, talking points, op-eds, reports, presentations, and event materials; write in OFN's institutional voice and support executive voice, including ghostwriting and rapid-turnaround work for the CEO.
- Translate complex financial, policy, research, and programmatic information into clear, credible, audience-centered language without sacrificing accuracy; develop strong framing, headlines, narrative structure, message hierarchy, calls to action, and audience-specific adaptations.
- Apply OFN's enterprise narrative and approved message frameworks across editorial products; tailor context, proof points, tone, and calls to action for members, investors, policymakers, media, partners, and internal audiences; ensure each deliverable has a clear objective, audience, message, and next action.
- Build content from source materials, interviews, data, and subject-matter expert input; identify gaps, ask the right questions, verify facts, and resolve inconsistencies before review.
Quality Control & Standards
- Serve as the primary editorial quality-control lead for written content, applying rigorous standards for clarity, accuracy, grammar, structure, tone, brand alignment, and accessibility; conduct substantive and line editing, copyediting, proofreading, fact- and link-checking, and final reads before publication.
- Return copy that is clean, on brief, in voice, and ready for use with minimal avoidable errors; maintain version control, source documentation, approvals, and final copy decks so the team can readily identify current, approved language.
- Create and apply editorial standards, templates, checklists, and repeatable QA practices; spot weak framing, unsupported claims, message drift, missing context, and reputational risk early and recommend fixes; protect quality under pressure in rapid-response, conference, and campaign periods.
Editorial Calendar & Workflow Management
- Own and maintain OFN's enterprise editorial calendar as the single forward-looking view of planned content, campaigns, publications, events, and executive moments across owned, earned, shared, and paid channels; convert priorities into sequenced Asana work with clear briefs, owners, approvers, and dates.
- Move work proactively from idea to execution, surfacing missing inputs, conflicts, risks, and bottlenecks early; run regular planning and production reviews with the VP, Content Strategy; provide concise status reporting on what is coming, blocked, at risk, and awaiting decision.
- Coordinate handoffs among writers, subject-matter experts, media relations, digital, marketing, creative, web, agencies, and freelancers; manage recurring workflows, including newsletters, publication launches, event and webinar sequences, executive content, research amplification, and rapid response.
Channel & Content Strategy
- Adapt core narratives across formats and channels and translate campaign strategy into sequenced editorial products; partner with digital, marketing, media relations, and creative colleagues on final copy, press materials, and asset review; support publishing in WordPress and email platforms.
- Build and manage a pipeline of member, borrower, partner, and organizational impact stories; develop relationships with subject-matter experts, establish clear intake, review, and approval processes, conduct interviews, and provide constructive editorial counsel and feedback.
- Use content performance, engagement, search, email, social, and web insights to improve headlines, formats, cadence, and editorial plans; complete post-launch reviews for major efforts; use AI-enabled tools responsibly while preserving human judgment, source verification, confidentiality, and OFN voice.
