JOB SUMMARY:


Processes insurance remittance advices; patient payments; daily cash, and adjustments and corrections for the hospital and one physician practice. Also researches requests for refunds and forwards insurance denials to medical billing company for prompt follow-up and resolution. Involves good communication and teamwork with practice, medical billing company and bookkeeping staff. Assists billing department with other duties as time allows.


DEPT. SCOPE OF SERVICE:


Billing for this physician practice is handled by an outside, independent medical billing company. The hospital billing office in which the Payment/Data Entry clerk will work handles all third-party billings and payment processing for the hospital and another of the corporation’s physician practices. All billers, including the payment/data entry clerk, work closely with many of the hospital’s other departments as well as with numerous third party payors and patients. The billing office is staffed from 8:00am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High school or equivalent preferred.

Experience: Two years in the work force using personal computers, with accurate typing skills. Previous data entry experience preferred.

Use of calculator, attention to detail, ability to work with numbers and good basic math skills required.

Licensure/Certification: None.

Mental Efforts: Ability to work independently with shifting priorities.

Environment & Working Conditions: Significant use of personal computer and standard office equipment;

Potential for CTD;

Pleasant, general office conditions.

Compensation Disclosure in Accordance with Vermont Act 155

In compliance with Vermont Act 155, Brattleboro Memorial Hospital provides the compensation range for this position in good faith. The listed range represents the pay scale reasonably expected for a successful candidate based on factors such as relevant experience, education, internal equity, and market competitiveness. Final compensation will be determined during the hiring process.
