Wasatch Peaks Credit Union is seeking a friendly, professional Talent Specialist to join our in-person HR/People Success Team. This role plays a key part in recruiting and hiring new employees and administers the onboarding lifecycle of our newest team members.
Reporting to the VP of People Success, the Talent Specialist manages the candidate and new employee experience from position launch through successful transition into the organization. This position coordinates recruiting and hiring activities, administers the onboarding lifecycle, partners with managers and internal departments to ensure new employees are prepared for success, and maintains accurate documentation, workforce data, and employee lifecycle transactions. This position also shares responsibility for the administration and support of the Credit Union's employee benefit programs.

What We're Looking For
- Experience: 2-4 years of experience in Human Resources, recruiting, onboarding, or a related field preferred. Experience in a financial institution or other regulated environment is helpful. Familiarity with recruiting and hiring processes, employment records, confidentiality requirements, and HR technology, including HRIS and applicant tracking systems, is preferred.
- Education: High School diploma or GED is required. A certificate from an accredited technical college in Human Resources, business, office administration, communications, or a related field, or an associate or bachelor's degree in a related field, is preferred. Professional HR certification, such as SPHR, PHR, SHRM-SCP, or SHRM-CP, is helpful but not required.
- Interpersonal Skills: Work involves extensive contact with applicants, employees, managers, vendors, and internal partners. The position requires tact, discretion, professionalism, warmth, and the ability to communicate clearly about sensitive or confidential matters.
- Other Skills: Strong organization, attention to detail, time management, follow-through, written and verbal communication, interviewing, presentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort learning systems such as Paylocity, Laserfiche, and recruiting or background screening platforms.
What You'll Do
Recruiting and Hiring
- Coordinate job postings, sourcing activities, applicant tracking, candidate screening, interview scheduling, interviews, selection documentation, background checks, and pre-employment requirements.
- Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs, job requirements, interview plans, candidate qualifications, and anticipated start dates.
- Maintain timely, professional communication with applicants and candidates throughout the recruiting and hiring process.
- Prepare and route offer, hiring, and pre-employment documentation; verify that required approvals and screening steps are complete before an employee begins work.
- Maintain recruiting analytics and staffing reports, including applicant flow, time-to-fill, source effectiveness, vacancy status, and other workforce measures requested by leadership.
- Administer internal posting and candidate processes in alignment with Credit Union policies and procedures.
New Employee Onboarding
- Own the onboarding lifecycle from acceptance of employment through the employee's successful transition into the organization.
- Coordinate orientation, new hire paperwork, employment eligibility documentation, personnel file setup, required acknowledgments, benefit enrollment support, and 401(k) information.
- Partner with hiring managers, and various Credit Union departments to coordinate training schedules, system access, equipment, resources, and first-day readiness.
- Administer new hire communications and milestone programs, including outreach, check-in meetings, surveys, and welcome items.
- Administer the Credit Union's mentoring program, including coordination of mentor assignments.
- Conduct onboarding check-ins, identify concerns or barriers, and coordinate timely follow-up with the appropriate manager or People Success Team member.
- Continuously evaluate onboarding materials, workflows, and employee experience practices to improve consistency, engagement, retention, and readiness for long-term success.
Workforce Programs, Benefits, and Department Support
- Develop and maintain workforce metrics, recruiting analytics, staffing reports, wage survey information, labor distribution reports, timecard reports, and regulatory reporting data for leadership review.
- Prepare recurring employee status and supervisor reports for designated internal partners.
- Monitor recruiting and onboarding trends and recommend practical process improvements
- Work collaboratively with the entire People Success Team to administer and support the Credit Union's employee benefit programs.
- Provide benefit education and enrollment assistance
Employee Lifecycle Administration and Records
- Administer employee lifecycle transactions, including promotions, transfers, advancements, supervisor changes, status changes, and related notifications and records.
- Process and track designated employee updates and forms, including tax updates, direct deposit updates, employee benefit reimbursements, etc.
- Maintain accurate electronic records and safeguard confidential employee and applicant information.
Schedule
This Full-Time position offers 40 hours per week, with hours normally between 8:30am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday.

Physical Requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The employee is regularly required to communicate, use a computer and other office equipment, and remain in a seated position for extended periods. The employee must be able to view and interpret information displayed on computer screens and other electronic devices, read printed materials, and perform tasks requiring close attention to detail. The employee frequently stands, walks, uses hands to type or handle materials, and reaches with hands and arms. The position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
Work Environment
This position operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment, including computers, tablets, phones, scanners, and photocopiers. Work is primarily performed in an office setting with overhead office lighting, computer monitors, and regular interaction with employees, applicants, members, and third-party vendors. The position requires regular interaction with applicants, new employees, managers, and internal departments and may require movement between Credit Union locations for recruiting, orientation, or onboarding activities.
