Reporting to the Manufacturing Campus Controller, this role partners with operations leadership (Plant Manager) to track, report, and analyze production activities. Examine and review unusual cost records and ensure cost data is captured and allocated correctly. Own Bill of Materials (BOM) accuracy, and contribute directly to the accounting/finance team's core goals around variance reporting, plant expense management, and inventory accuracy.
Role and Responsibilities
? Gathers and compiles production information and maintains database concerning job transaction expenses.
? Reports and analyzes manufacturing variances connected with production processes; delivers material and labor variance reporting to production leadership on a weekly cadence, with root-cause commentary for variances exceeding +/-10%.
? Analyzes job costing standards vs. actual and suggests standard cost updates.
? Analyzes actual vs. standard run rates and suggests potential rate updates.
? Reports and analyzes job routing activities (work centers, locations, etc.) and suggests potential improvements.
? Reviews and analyzes actual costs to identify inaccuracies.
? Creates and maintains Bills of Materials (BOMs); owns quarterly BOM accuracy audits for an area, with discrepancies identified and corrected within 30 days.
? Support physical inventory cycle counts and book reconciliation; assists with the annual physical inventory count and supports variance investigation and resolution.
? Supports monthly close of plant operating expense actuals, quarterly forecast updates, and the annual budget cycle for area of responsibility.
? Support in the plant's monthly close calendar, this role prepares journal entries and account reconciliations
? Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
? Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software, as well as accounting/ERP software (Syteline experience preferred).
? Thorough understanding of accounting procedures.
? Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
? Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with close attention to detail.
? Ability to manage confidential information.
Education and Experience
? Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business preferred.
? 2+ years of relevant experience.
Physical Requirements
? Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
? Ability to lift 25 lbs.
