The Boys & Girls Club of Worcester is looking for a School Age Child Care Lead Staff member to help create a fun, safe, and engaging after-school experience for children ages 5-13. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with youth and wants to have a meaningful impact in their community.

Please note: Per EEC regulations, all applicants must be at least 21 years old.

What You'll Do

As a Lead Staff member, you'll be a mentor, role model, activity coordinator, problem solver, and cheerleader all rolled into one! You'll help plan and lead a variety of educational, recreational, and enrichment activities while ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for every child.

Responsibilities include:

  • Planning, implementing, and evaluating age-appropriate programs and activities
  • Creating a positive and engaging after-school environment
  • Supporting children's social, emotional, and academic development
  • Ensuring compliance with EEC regulations and Club policies
  • Providing homework and academic support when needed
  • Utilizing technology and remote learning tools to support participants
  • Communicating effectively with parents, caregivers, and fellow staff
  • Assisting with special events, programs, and Club initiatives
  • Performing light cleaning and maintaining organized program spaces
  • Contributing wherever needed to help the Club succeed

Physical Requirements

This is an active role! You should be able to:

  • Remain on your feet and physically active for up to 3 hours at a time
  • Lift and carry up to 25 pounds
  • Participate in indoor and outdoor activities with children
Requirements

Qualifications

To meet EEC requirements, candidates must be at least 21 years old and meet one of the following qualifications:

  • Have a Bachelor's Degree or Associate Degree and three months of experience working with school-age children; OR
  • Have a High School Diploma or equivalent and six months of experience working with school-age children, including three months of supervised experience in a school-age childcare program; OR
  • Have nine months of experience working with school-age children, including three months of supervised experience in a school-age childcare program.

Additional qualifications:

  • Confidence providing academic support and homework assistance
  • Strong computer and technology skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of group dynamics and youth leadership
  • Demonstrated organizational and project management abilities
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred, but not required

Salary Description
$16 - $18.50 per hour (based on experience)
