Description
SUMMARY
The Clinical Therapist (PRN), reporting to the Clinical Director, is an independently licensed, on-site clinician who provides as-needed coverage across SFRC programs during staff absences, high census, and other program needs. Shifts are offered based on coverage needs and hours are not guaranteed. All work follows ASAM criteria, state and federal law, the counseling code of ethics, and SFRC's evidence-based practices, policies, and procedures.
Requirements
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitate group therapy using evidence-based practices for SUD and co-occurring disorders, including psychoeducation, cognitive-behavioral approaches, motivational interviewing, and other holistic modalities.
- Provide individual therapy sessions as assigned.
- Conduct assessments using SFRC's biopsychosocial assessment (BPS), risk assessment, and other evaluation tools to determine ASAM level of care.
- Complete timely, accurate documentation in the electronic health record in accordance with BHSD standards.
- Coordinate with the Case Manager and treatment team to support continuity of care and referrals.
- Maintain availability for scheduled shifts as agreed with the Clinical Director.
- Participate in initial and ongoing training on SFRC's evidence-based practices and maintain fidelity to them.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices for substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders, including motivational interviewing and cognitive-behavioral approaches.
- Working knowledge of ASAM criteria and level-of-care determination.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Computer literacy sufficient to maintain compliance with BHSD (Behavioral Health Services Division) standards for computerized client assessments, the electronic health record, and data systems.
- Bilingual/bicultural (English/Spanish) preferred.
- LADAC credential, substance use specialty training, or experience providing clinical supervision preferred.
Education and Experience:
- Current, unrestricted New Mexico independent clinical license: LCSW, LPCC, or LMFT.
- Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a closely related field.
- At least two (2) years of post-master's experience providing individual and group therapy to clients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
- For individuals in recovery from SUD, a minimum of two (2) years of uninterrupted abstinence from alcohol and/or drugs.
- Current, valid New Mexico driver's license, clean driving record, and auto insurance.
