PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Logistics Assistant is responsible for supporting daily shipping, receiving, inventory, and administrative logistics functions to ensure the efficient movement of materials, products, and information throughout the organization. This role assists with coordinating inbound and outbound shipments, maintaining inventory accuracy, processing shipping documentation, and communicating with vendors, carriers, customers, and internal departments to support operational success.
The Logistics Assistant serves as a key resource within the Logistics Department by helping ensure customer orders are shipped accurately and on time, incoming materials are received and processed efficiently, and inventory records remain organized and up to date.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Coordinate and process outbound shipments using shipping software and customer shipping portals.
· Prepare shipping documentation including bills of lading, packing slips, certificates, and related paperwork.
· Schedule freight pickups and deliveries with carriers, customers, and vendors.
· Track shipments and communicate delivery status updates to internal and external stakeholders.
· Receive incoming materials and verify quantities, part numbers, and condition against purchase orders and packing slips.
· Enter and maintain shipping, receiving, and inventory data within company systems.
· Assist with inventory transactions, cycle counts, stock accuracy initiatives, and material organization.
· Coordinate with Purchasing, Production, Quality, and Customer Service to support material flow and customer requirements.
· Assist with loading and unloading shipments as needed to support warehouse operations.
· Investigate and help resolve shipment discrepancies, freight claims, delivery issues, and inventory variances.
· Maintain organized shipping, receiving, and inventory records in accordance with company procedures.
· Monitor shipping supply inventory and notify management when replenishment is needed.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and logistics work environment.
· Utilize downtime to support filing, documentation, inventory organization, process improvements, and other logistics-related tasks.
· Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3–4 years of shipping, logistics, receiving, inventory control, warehouse operations or a related field required.
- Proficient computer skills including MS Office and common shipping platforms (FedEx, UPS WorldShip, DHL, etc.) required.
- Forklift experience required.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience with customer shipping portals preferred.
