Business Summary
We are looking for a Data Scientist to help us make better use of the financial, operational, revenue cycle, and clinical data available across our organization. This role will work closely with Finance, Operations, RCM, IT, and other departments to develop reporting and analytics, identify trends and missed opportunities, and provide insights that support better business decisions. The position will also explore practical uses of AI and modern analytics tools to improve reporting, forecasting, and data analysis.
Key Responsibilities
· Analyze financial, operational, RCM, claims, provider, procedure, and other healthcare data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
· Develop financial reporting and dashboards using QuickBooks and other data sources, including consolidated reporting, intercompany adjustments, variance analysis, forecasting, benchmarking, and drill-down capabilities.
· Analyze provider and CPOE activity, including procedure and order volumes, reimbursement impact, protocol compliance, and potential missed opportunities.
· Analyze reimbursement trends by CPT code, payer, provider, location, and service line.
· Monitor denial rates and identify patterns across service lines, locations, procedures, and payers.
· Identify underpayments, collection gaps, revenue leakage, and other opportunities to improve financial performance.
· Partner with department leaders to define meaningful metrics and turn business questions into useful analysis.
· Work with Materials Management to analyze purchasing, utilization, and cost data in support of vendor negotiations and expense management.
· Build dashboards and reports that allow leadership to review high-level performance and drill into supporting details.
· Use statistical and predictive methods for forecasting, trend analysis, anomaly detection, and other business needs.
· Use AI tools such as Claude or similar platforms to support data analysis, automate reporting, summarize findings, and explore new ways to interact with organizational data.
· Coordinate with PTCOA and other business units on analytics and reporting needs.
· Maintain appropriate privacy, security, and handling of PHI and other sensitive information.
Job Requirements
· Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, Information Technology, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field.
· 4+ years of experience in data science, analytics, business intelligence, or a related role.
· Strong SQL and Python skills.
· Experience working with large and complex datasets.
· Experience with statistical analysis, forecasting, data visualization, and predictive analytics.
· Experience developing dashboards and business reporting.
· Ability to investigate business problems, analyze the underlying data, and clearly communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
· Healthcare, RCM, claims, reimbursement, or healthcare financial analytics experience preferred.
· Familiarity with CPT/HCPCS codes, denials, payer data, patient collections, and provider performance.
· Experience with QuickBooks or other financial/accounting systems.
· Experience with AI/LLM tools such as Claude, ChatGPT/OpenAI, Azure AI, or similar technologies.
· Experience with Azure, APIs, ETL/data pipelines, or cloud-based analytics.
· Familiarity with HIPAA and appropriate handling of PHI.
· Software development experience, including React or .NET, is a plus but not required.
Role Details
Full-time, on-site position in Little Rock, Arkansas. The role will work across departments and may occasionally require work outside normal business hours or travel.
