Description

The Community Engagement Liaison supports the mission, goals, and strategic plan of South Florida Donor Network, Inc. (SFDN) (THE OPO) by cultivating and sustaining meaningful relationships with business and community partners. The role advances THE OPO’s community initiatives through effective communication, partner education, public outreach, and collaborative events with organizations such as the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV)/Tax Collector’s Offices (TC), educational institutions (middle schools, high schools, and colleges or universities), libraries, and other local entities across the Designated Service Area (DSA). The position also supports the Communications & Community Engagement (CCE) department through signature events, assists the Donor Family Aftercare Program by fostering compassionate, consistent connections with donor families, and contributes to the success of the volunteer program. DSA consists of the six counties in South Florida (Broward, Collier, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Palm Beach, and St. Lucie) and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. 

Requirements
  • Maintain strict confidentiality when handling donor information and sensitive information
  • Build and maintain strong,      positive relationships with the DMV/TC, educational institutions,      libraries, community leaders/government officials and local businesses 

Carry out the DMV/TC program in assigned areas of the DSA:

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with DMV/TC supervisors and staff
  •  Educate and motivate DMV/TC staff to provide accurate, positive donation information to customers
  • Coordinate with DMV/TC supervisors to schedule monthly, bi-monthly and quarterly office visits, to include the use of volunteers as part of the rotation
  • Participate in the planning and execution of DMV/TC appreciation events, inclusive of the Donate Life Florida (DLF) Driver’s License Office (DLO) committee

Lead the Youth Education Program in assigned areas of the DSA:

  • Build and maintain relationships with the educational institution leaders and health education teachers
  • Ensure health teachers are promoting the donation education program for middle and high school students
  • Provides education sessions for elementary, middle, high schools and colleges or universities as requested
  • Participate in the DLF Youth Education committee as appropriate

Contribute to the success of the Volunteer Program:

  • Promote the volunteer program to engage community and partner participation
  • Coordinating volunteer presence and materials for CCE events and educations
  • Implement best practices for volunteer retention 


  • Oversee the tracking, organization, and replenishment of CCE department inventory and supplies      to support ongoing programs, events, and daily operations
  • Follow policies and procedures to ensure compliance with rules and regulations
  • Take initiative to improve and evolve existing programs and partnerships and build new, mutually beneficial partnerships
  • Develop and maintain strong external partner relationships by understanding organizational needs and delivering excellent customer service
  • Conduct donation educations for external partners
  • Ensure appropriate partners are invited to THE OPO events and education opportunities
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise within partner relationships
  • Maintain confidentiality related to donors, partner relations, and internal matters
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, policy updates, and interdepartmental collaboration
  • Participate in OPO related organizational committees such as DLF, Association for Multicultural Affairs in Transplantation (AMAT), or Association for Organ Procurement Organizations, (AOPO)
  • Identify new opportunities for public outreach, education and community partnerships
  • Report to manager on progress of assignments and partner updates
  • Meet or exceed performance metrics established for the CCE department
  • Perform other duties assigned
