Description
Position Summary
Responsible for managing daily general accounting functions and coordinating the month-end close process, including the accurate and timely completion of financial statements. Supervises accounting staff supporting accounts receivable and accounts payable functions. Ensures financial transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP and company policies and procedures. Collaborates and communicates with departments throughout the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Reconcile and analyze balance sheet accounts.
- Coordinate the preparation of monthly financial presentations.
- Prepare and file Sales, Use, and CAT tax returns, as well as annual 1099s.
- Perform and review bank reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly journal entries.
- Research and explain monthly financial statement variances.
- Participate in annual audit activities, including the preparation of audit schedules.
- Assist with annual budget preparation.
- Collaborate with associates across departments to identify and resolve issues related to accounting operations.
- Assist with special projects and perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Decision-Making Responsibilities
- Work with various departments to identify and resolve accounting and operational issues.
- Resolve questions and issues raised by direct reports and provide appropriate guidance.
- Make recommendations regarding recurring balance sheet journal entries.
Requirements
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics is preferred but not required.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
