POSITION: Program Assistant/Medical Assistant

PROGRAM: Nantucket Sexual and Reproductive Health Services 

HOURS:  Part-time up to 25 hours per week 

SALARY:  $30.91/hourly 

LOCATION: Nantucket 

DUTIES:    Under the supervision of Associate Director of SRHS, the Program Assistant duties include: 

  • Provide patients with a welcoming reception and schedule patient appointments according to established protocol
  • Room patients and obtain and record client’s personal medical history including gynecological, obstetrical and sexual history
  • Perform clerical duties including checking patients in and out of appointments, verifying health insurance eligibility, answering calls and checking voicemails, preparing superbills, and restocking clinic supplies
  • Provide clients with non-judgmental and accurate information regarding reproductive health issues, contraception, sexually transmitted infections, HIV, Hepatitis, pregnancy options, and pregnancy prevention.
  • Provide service navigation including linking patients to care, providing medical follow up, providing drug assistance support for HIV PrEP/nPEP, providing referrals for overdose education and Naloxone, medication assisted treatment, syringe services, mental health, primary care, housing, and other social services. 
  • Provide HIV PrEP/nPEP drug assistance and support, 
  • Represent Health Imperatives at relevant community gatherings, events, and meetings to promote awareness of Health Imperatives Nantucket programs and establish and expand collaborations with community partners 
  • Prepare and distribute educational and informational materials to community members and partner organizations.
  • Other duties as assigned  
Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  High school diploma; ability to maintain flexible schedule in accordance with program needs including some evenings and/or occasional weekends. Strong organizational skills; high level of cultural competency and experience working with diverse populations. Demonstrated work in a collaborative, team environment. Must have a valid driver’s license. 


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bilingual Spanish speaking, experience working in a medical or social service setting.
