Job Summary:
The Senior Field Equipment Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for TAKKION's field equipment and fleet operations. This position ensures company-owned, leased, and rented equipment is safe, reliable, properly maintained, cost-effective, and available to support project schedules. The Senior Field Equipment Manager oversees equipment planning, maintenance, repairs, mobilization, utilization, lifecycle management, vendor relationships, and regulatory compliance across multiple projects and locations while working closely with Operations, Project Management, HSE, Procurement, Finance, and field leadership.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Lead field equipment operations across multiple projects, regions, and business units.
- Develop equipment strategies that support project schedules, operational requirements, and company growth.
- Maintain visibility of company-owned, leased, and rented equipment, including location, condition, utilization, and availability.
- Coordinate equipment mobilization, demobilization, transfers, and site readiness with project and field leadership.
- Establish preventive-maintenance, inspection, and repair programs that minimize downtime and meet manufacturer and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor reliability, downtime, repeat failures, repair history, and utilization trends; implement corrective actions when performance falls below expectations.
- Develop lifecycle plans and recommendations for equipment acquisition, replacement, refurbishment, rental, or disposal.
- Manage equipment operating budgets, capital budgets, forecasts, repair spending, rental costs, vendor invoices, and warranty claims.
- Evaluate total cost of ownership and recommend purchasing, leasing, or rental strategies.
- Manage equipment vendors, dealers, repair facilities, rental providers, and service agreements; hold partners accountable for safety, quality, cost, and response time.
- Partner with Procurement on specifications, bids, purchases, rentals, warranties, and supplier performance.
- Maintain accurate equipment records and ensure effective use of fleet, telematics, maintenance, and asset-management systems.
- Ensure equipment complies with company policies, manufacturer requirements, and applicable OSHA, DOT, environmental, and jurisdictional requirements.
- Partner with HSE leaders on equipment-related investigations, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, inspections, operator care, securement, storage, and damage reporting.
- Support emergency repairs and equipment-recovery activities while maintaining safe work practices.
- Lead, coach, and develop equipment managers, coordinators, mechanics, technicians, and other assigned personnel.
- Set performance expectations, allocate resources, review workloads, and hold team members accountable.
- Collaborate with project leaders to resolve equipment constraints before they affect safety, productivity, cost, or schedule.
- Prepare and communicate equipment status, cost, utilization, risk, and performance reports to operational and executive leadership.
- Support estimating, planning, and mobilization by identifying equipment requirements, lead times, costs, and availability.
- Standardize equipment processes, specifications, and key performance indicators across the organization.
- Travel to field locations to assess equipment conditions, validate compliance, support teams, and resolve operational issues.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, operations, business, fleet management, or a related field preferred; equivalent field and equipment-management experience will be considered.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in equipment, fleet, maintenance, construction, or field operations, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Experience supporting renewable energy, utility-scale construction, heavy civil, transportation, crane, heavy haul, or other equipment-intensive operations strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing equipment across multiple projects or geographically dispersed locations.
- Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance, repair planning, inspections, telematics, asset controls, lifecycle management, and equipment-related OSHA, DOT, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience developing budgets, reviewing financial performance, negotiating with vendors, and managing capital and operating costs.
- Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to prioritize competing demands, make timely decisions, and remain effective in a fast-paced field environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and fleet, maintenance, telematics, ERP, or asset-management systems.
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively to project and field locations, including overnight travel, as business needs require.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
This position is on site, often in remote or rural areas. Team members will be required to adhere to all safety requirements in all work environments.
Specific requirements include:
- Ability to work in office, shop, yard, and active construction-site environments.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, climb stairs or ladders, and travel across uneven terrain.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Willingness and ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, or extended hours in response to project and equipment needs.
- Travel up to 75%.
