Non-Exempt - This position is responsible for Profile Verification Sampling of all “As Received” mixed waste, and in some instances, industrial waste received at Perma-Fix of Florida (PFF). The ECLT will perform tasks relating to sampling, sample documentation, and placing materials in storage at PFF. The ECLT also performs secondary QA/QC on containers to ensure adherence to PFF Waste Acceptance Criteria relating to Container integrity and storage. Sample receipt into the lab, preparation and routine analysis of samples. Storage, tracking and disposal of samples and lab generated waste.
Duties
· Sample or inspect “As Received” mixed waste upon receipt at PFF, and maintain control of supporting documentation (Chain of Custody, Drum Inspection Logs) until delivery to on-site analytical laboratory;
· Maintain “Sampling Log Book” which details sampling events within TOB sample room;
· Verify container integrity and head space are within PFF Waste Acceptance Criteria prior to placement in proper storage area;
· Perform QA/QC on containers to ensure labeling and container identification is within PFF Waste Acceptance Criteria prior to placement in proper storage area;
· Responsible for decontamination of sampling equipment and sampling room at the end of each sampling event
· The ECLT must maintain sampling area in an organized and clean manner for health, safety, and administrative compliance.
· Liaison with treatment chemists to determine analytical needs in support of waste treatment operations.
· Receipt and tracking of industrial, hazardous, and/or radioactive waste samples.
· Upon certification, perform analyses using ICP/MS, GC/MS, GC/FID, GC/ECD, and Combustion I.C., bomb calorimetry instrumentation and/or other standard lab instruments and equipment.
· Preparation and analysis of laboratory standards and quality control samples.
· Documentation and evaluation of analytical procedures and results to ensure accuracy.
· Routine maintenance of laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
· Management of laboratory-generated hazardous and/or radioactive wastes.
· Critically evaluate and interpret analytical results for quality and accuracy.
· Perform data regression to convert raw data to results in a format that is usable by the requestor.
· Organize analytical data and communicate them verbally or by written report to lab staff and requestors.
· Develop and implement laboratory methods and procedures in accordance with permit requirements and internal or externally imposed QC specifications, as directed by the laboratory manager.

· High school graduate or equivalent (college, vocational or job training in a technical field preferred).
· 40-hour OSHA Hazwoper Certification with current 8-hr refresher.
· 16-hour radiation safety training with current 4-hour refresher.
· Working knowledge of RCRA waste codes and Facility Process Codes
· Working knowledge of PFF Chain of Custody for samples sent to Radiological Lab and Chemical Lab
· Forklift Operator Safety Training, I/C Powered, Sit Down Counterbalanced Lift Truck

Working Conditions
Work involves extreme temperature environments for sampling. Use of climate-controlled PPE and respirator or supplied air. Some heavy lifting. Typical climate-controlled laboratory operations. Occupational exposure to hazardous chemicals and ionizing radiation within regulatory limits. Analytical instruments may be electrically powered, have moving parts, sharp edges or points, and components that operate at extreme temperatures.
