Description

Position Summary

Responsible for supporting the credit analysis function through financial analysis, administrative support, documentation, reporting, and compliance activities. Assists in evaluating credit risk, preparing analysis for lending decisions, coordinating work within the department, maintaining records, and ensuring adherence to bank policies and regulatory requirements. 


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.A.) in a related field preferred.
  • Specialized financial analysis training preferred. 

Experience

  • No prior experience required. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong reading, writing, grammar, and mathematical skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of lending practices, loan review regulations, banking regulations, procedures, and operations.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial statements.
  • Moderate proficiency with personal computer applications.
  • Visual and auditory abilities sufficient to perform job duties. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Credit Analysis

  • Perform credit risk analysis on prospective borrowers, typically involving non-complex credits.
  • Receive and review borrower documentation, including: 
  • Tax returns
  • Financial statements
  • Credit reports
  • Agency reports
  • Interview and investigation documentation
  • Analyze financial information and evaluate both short-term and long-term prospects of individuals and businesses.
  • Contact customers or their accountants, when necessary, to clarify financial information.
  • Prepare recommendations regarding loan approval or denial when assigned to a lending function.
  • Assist in determining appropriate loan grades based on credit analysis and documentation review.
  • Document all financial analysis activities, including: 
  • Financial ratios
  • Cash flow analysis
  • Collateral analysis
  • Supporting financial information
  • Ensure all credit analysis activities comply with established lending policies. 

Operational Support

  • Perform administrative duties supporting the credit analysis function.
  • Achieve individual goals established through the department's annual operating plan.
  • Coordinate work activities with personnel within the department and across other departments.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare assigned reports.
  • Respond to inquiries and requests for information from bank personnel and customers in accordance with established timelines and policies.
  • Communicate effectively with management and staff to support departmental objectives and activities. 

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Comply with all established operating policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Support the Bank's risk management, safety, and soundness initiatives.
  • Adhere to all applicable regulatory requirements, including but not limited to: 
  • Community Reinvestment Act (CRA)
  • Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
  • Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA)
  • Promote and support a workplace free from harassment and unlawful discrimination.
  • Cooperate with internal policies, procedures, and practices designed to ensure regulatory compliance and operational effectiveness.
