Forklift Operator
Description

The Forklift Operator will operate an industrial forklift truck to accomplish various materials handling assignments.


Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and transports requested materials to and from various locations, including machines, loading docks, railroad cars, trucks, and storage areas.
  • Obtains production schedule and/or shipping orders and then identifies, verifies, and transports requested raw materials, equipment, or processing materials accordingly.
  • Uses protective materials and strapping equipment to protect and secure loads; once delivered, removes strapping and wrapping, then safely disposes of waste materials in designated containers or areas.
  • Reports any problems with materials or transportation to the supervisor.
  • Manages and piles drums, skids, pallets, and other supplies in specified areas.
  • Services equipment as needed, reporting mechanical or electrical difficulties to management.
  • Performs other related duties as requested.

Requirements

Requirements / Skills

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license.
  • 1 year of forklift operating experience. 
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills. (English)
  • Ability to read and interpret documents in English.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). 
  • Ability to maintain single-task focus and situational awareness.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office, MES and SAP.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application. 
  • Must be willing and able to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs on a regular basis, with occasional team lifting up to 100 lbs, stand, and walk for a 10-hour shift.
  • Must be willing and able to work Monday through Friday and weekends as required based on business needs. 
  • Willing to work daily and weekly overtime.
  • Satisfactorily pass forklift driving training program or demonstrate safe handling of forklift in an on-site test.
  • Able to work fixed or rotating shifts (example: work a day shift and then an evening/night shift on a defined rotating schedule).
  • Adjust to changing needs in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work rotating schedules/shifts.
