As a Medical Assistant with Community Health Center of the North Country, you’ll play an important role in providing accessible, high-quality, patient-centered care to people in our community. You’ll work closely with providers and other members of the care team, build relationships with patients, and help make sure each visit is as smooth and positive as possible.

What You'll Do


1. Responsible for providing hands-on support to patients and providers.

  • Welcomes patients, helps them prepare for their visits, and ensures their health information is up to date.
  • Takes vital signs and other measurements and shares important information with the provider.
  • Collects laboratory specimens and performs point-of-care testing.
  • Assists providers with exams and procedures within the scope of practice.
  • Keeps exam rooms clean, organized, and ready for the next patient.

2. Responsible for helping patients connect with the care and resources they need.

  • Helps patients navigate referrals, services, and other resources that support their health and well-being.
  • Provides information and assistance to help patients feel informed and supported throughout their care.

3. Responsible for helping keep the health center running smoothly.

  • Helps with chart preparation and other administrative tasks that keep visits moving.
  • Answers calls and responds to patient questions with patience, professionalism, and courtesy.
  • Helps keep patient demographic, insurance, and health information accurate and up to date.

4. Responsible for keeping patient information accurate, secure, and up to date.

  • Documents patient care accurately in the electronic health record.
  • Protects patient privacy and follows HIPAA and other confidentiality requirements.
  • Follows health center procedures and safety and infection control standards.

5. Responsible for being an engaged member of the care team.

  • Participates in team huddles, staff meetings, and quality improvement activities.
  • Builds positive relationships with patients and coworkers and treats everyone with respect.
  • Looks for opportunities to learn, grow, and contribute to better ways of providing care.

6. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or Health Center management.

Requirements

 

What You'll Bring

  • High school diploma, GED, or Medical Assistant certification required.
  • One year of patient care experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA requirements.
  • Strong organizational and computer skills.
  • Professionalism, good judgment, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work effectively and respectfully as part of a team.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift or carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to safely assist and support patients as needed.
  • Ability to work safely in a clinical environment with exposure to infectious diseases, blood and airborne pathogens, and other clinical conditions.

Salary Description
$17.50/hour - $21.69/hour
