Job Goal: The RBT/BT will help learners up for success by developing positive behaviors and life skills
using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). To be successful in this role, you will display a compassionate
nature, empathy, and discretion in your work. You should have excellent communication and time
management skills and be able to develop and maintain relationships with clients, supervisors, and
colleagues. Prior experience in a behavioral health setting is advantageous.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide direct care to clients in a one-on-one or group therapy setting to implement skill acquisition
and behavior reduction treatments as directed by the supervisor. RBT/BT for enforcing standards
for ABA Therapy to maintain Rise Up for Autism's high quality of care for clients and families.
Family counseling
When families are dealing with the stresses and challenges of children on the spectrum, the registered
behavioral technician or behavioral technician (in collaboration with a BCBA) assists in developing a
healthy daily protocol that may include role-playing, empathic training, and developing open
communication for all parties involved.
Behavior reduction
An RBT/BT seeks to reduce certain maladaptive behaviors under the supervision and direction of a
BCBA. The RBT/BT must be able to follow the behavior reduction protocol created by the BCBA.
Documentation and reporting
Since RBT/BT collaborates with BCBA, it is important that all members of the care team keep accurate
records and report results and data. These recordings can help determine which aspects of treatment
are working and which are not.
- Provide direct 1:1 ABA Therapy to children ages 2-14 years old in the center or in-home environments.
- Create a fun and encouraging learning environment.
- Help learners manage challenging behaviors by implementing treatment plans across multiple domains, including communication, social behavior, learner readiness skills, selfcare, replacement behavior and behavior reduction as instructed by BCBA.
- Collect and record data on their daily progress.
- Toilet training and diaper changing may be required.
- Participate in staff meetings, team meetings and collaborate with others
- Follow behavioral health plans developed by BCBA to provide beneficial and effective care to patients.
- Participate in counseling and meeting sessions
- Answer questions from children and their families
- Assist children with day-to-day tasks
- Observe child behaviors to collect data
- Teach specific skills required for skill acquisition and maladaptive behavior reduction
- Nurture a child’s social abilities
- Inform parents and other caregivers about behavioral intervention findings
Training
- BT’s must have or complete 40 hours of behavioral Therapy training
- RBT must have certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board
Related experience is preferred
- Must be patient and enjoy working with children
- Must be physically fit and be able to lift and carry patients or chase after them.
