Position Summary:
The Senior Electrical Engineer owns the analysis, design, integration, documentation, and troubleshooting of power, digital, and analog circuits across product platforms. Primarily the product platforms consist of motor controllers in the 100W to 50kW range within Space, Defense, Energy and Thermal Management product space. They develop solutions that ensure both project and long-term business success in coordination with other members of the electrical engineering department as overseen by the project lead. Projects may include clean sheet designs, modifications to existing designs, repeat manufacturing support, and/or sustaining and support of existing products.
Key Results Areas:
1. Own the design, analysis, integration, and testing of analog & digital electronics coupled to motors/generators and sensors/actuators within project constraints.
a. Complete analytical and design efforts by applying engineering principles to define and analyze the design.
b. Mentor, review, and support the work of teammates as appropriate.
c. Define test plans and specify associated test hardware to ensure appropriate design development, validation, and troubleshooting.
d. Review testing (both design, assembly, and product), prepare results, and derive conclusions as appropriate.
e. Support programmatic activities as required.
2. Resolve technical challenges across a wide range of electronic devices and products, ranging from obsolescence support of heritage products, to troubleshooting designs under active development, to testing emerging technology for future integration into the business.
3. Analyze and recommend technical design decisions and development strategies to ensure both project and long-term business success.
4. Effectively interfacing and mentoring with other team members.
Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, an individual must possess the knowledge, training, experience, and abilities required.
Education and Training
· Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
· Minimum of eight years related experience developing and troubleshooting power electronics and/or associated peripheral circuits.
· Experience with circuit design, schematic capture, layout, board level designs, and validation.
· Design and testing experience with FPGAs/Processors, filters, amplifiers, ADCs, DACs, and gate drive of FETs and/or IGBTs.
· Strong knowledge of Printed Circuit Board design, layout, and manufacturing.
· Experience with simulation tools such as LTSpice, MATLAB/Simulink, and others
· Proficiency with CAD tools for schematic capture such as Altium Designer.
Other:
· Must be willing to work overtime as required
· Travel up to 10% of working time.
· Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary product development team environment.
Desired Job Qualification:
· Motor control experience
· More than eight years of related experience and/or training in a similar role
· EMI/EMC design and mitigation techniques.
· Significant experience with LTSpice, Altium, and Matlab/Simulink
· Some experience with software/firmware development

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is also exposed to high level of manufacturing and equipment noise. Duties are performed indoors in a manufacturing environment with temperature changes. Exposure to hazardous materials, fumes or airborne particles and moving mechanical parts with vibration.
Compensation and Benefits:
The salary range for this role is $120,000-$160,000 and is commensurate with the applicant’s experience. This range represents the anticipated minimum and maximum base for this position. The final compensation for this position will be set based on the applicant’s qualifications (education, training and/or experience related to this role), and therefore, may fall outside the range shown, depending on the circumstances.
