Description
The System Administrator I is responsible for controlling and monitoring of the organization's systems infrastructure. This individual monitors the performance of systems to ensure maximum system uptime. Evaluates and monitors server utilization, applications, Operating Systems, domain integrity including server and software patching and potential firmware/software upgrades. This position also deals with a variety of complex issues, and the team member must rely on sound personal judgement and direction from IT Infrastructure Manager to decide on appropriate and necessary action. Requirements
- Monitors and maintains the entire Credit Union Information Systems & Server Infrastructure to ensure maximum uptime. Generates daily/weekly/monthly reports to measure performance, propose and take corrective action
- Researches and recommends innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identifies approaches that leverage company’s resources and provide economies of scale
- Contributes to and maintains system standards, technical documentation and procedures
- Ensures compliance with Member Information Security Policies and Procedures as well as other regulatory mandates
- Participates in IT Systems Audits and examinations, as needed, and provides appropriate information to required resources
- Performs regular file archival and purge as necessary, to clean up storage
- Works with IT Infrastructure Manager and Network Engineer to develop IT budget and recommend IT related purchases ensuring most cost effective infrastructure solutions
- Coordinates LAN/WAN and application server activities including establishing, installing, specifying system requirements, and maintaining network users, user environment, directories and security
- Troubleshoots application server performance issues, creates, maintains and documents procedures including disaster recovery, security, anti-virus, backup and restore situations
- Manages upgrades & security patches on all application servers and desktops using automation tools; troubleshoots issues related to patching to ensure all systems are patched
- Reviews vulnerabilities identified through penetration tests or vulnerability scans and works to resolve them, based on service level agreements and severity
- Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate systems, recommends changes to backup procedures to ensure most cost effective models; resolves any failures and monitors for disk space utilization
- Performs ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required following standard change control processes
- Prepares and maintains documentation of server configurations and server layouts
- Manages and documents licenses and usage for all application software, to ensure compliance with licensing
- Coordinates, maintains and works with team to test IT related disaster recovery plans
- Provides Tier 2 support to Desktop Support personnel
- Performs other duties, as assigned, including Help Desk/Desktop Technician responsibilities
- Provide on-call support, including after-hour, weekend and holiday as needed
Required Experience and Education
- High School Diploma
- 1-2 years experience with all aspects of systems administration (servers and endpoints)
- Demonstrated ability to be fiscally responsible
Salary Description
$37.00-$41.00 an hour, DOE
