W.S. Darley & Company, a family-owned manufacturing company since 1908, is seeking a Utility Machinist to join our Pump Division in Chippewa Falls, WI. In this role, you’ll be part of a world class manufacturing team and in this specialized position, float to wherever you are needed to set up and operate a variety of manual machining equipment used in the production of pumps and related equipment.

The work you do in our machine shop becomes part of pumps trusted by firefighters, emergency responders, and military personnel around the world. When performance matters most, people rely on the equipment we build.

What We’re Looking For

Qualified candidates will possess:

· Technical school diploma in Machine Tooling or a related field, equivalent military training, or relevant occupational experience

· Experience setting up and operating manual and CNC machining equipment

· Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills

· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and enjoys a lot of variety

· Competency with measuring instruments and machine shop tooling

· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and work instructions


What You’ll Do

Responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

· Serving as a backup operator for CNC mills and CNC lathes

· Setting up and operating manual machine tools including:

o Drill press

o Radial arm drills

o Vertical and horizontal mills

o Engine and turret lathes

o Grinders

o Saws

o Specialty machine shop equipment

· Using standard machine shop measuring tools

· Retrieving and setting up fixturing as required

· Reading and interpreting blueprints and work instructions

· Completing required production and quality documentation

· Maintaining established production standards

· Supporting a safe, clean, organized work environment


Preferred Qualifications

· Experience operating Okuma and/or Mazak equipment

· Previous manufacturing or machine shop experience

· Experience with precision measuring equipment and quality inspection processes

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship


Physical Requirements

This position regularly requires:

· Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials up to 50 pounds

· Frequent standing and walking throughout the workday

· Bending, reaching, twisting, and repetitive hand movements

· Working safely around machine shop equipment and moving machinery
