Boater’s World Manufacturing Group is seeking an experienced and dependable Stockroom & Receiving Lead to support our growing boat manufacturing operation in Chocowinity, North Carolina.
The Stockroom & Receiving Lead is responsible for helping coordinate the daily activities of the receiving and stockroom operation while remaining actively involved in the work. This position will help ensure incoming materials are received accurately, inventory is properly stored and maintained, and production teams have the parts and materials they need to keep manufacturing moving.
This is a hands-on lead position. The successful candidate will work alongside the team while helping establish daily priorities, coordinate receiving and material requests, maintain inventory accuracy, and ensure established stockroom and safety procedures are consistently followed.
Previous experience in manufacturing receiving, stockroom, warehouse, inventory, or material-handling operations is required, along with previous forklift experience.
What You’ll Do
Stockroom & Receiving Leadership
- Help coordinate the day-to-day workflow of the receiving and stockroom operation.
- Establish daily priorities based on incoming deliveries, inventory needs, and production requirements.
- Provide day-to-day work direction and support to Stockroom & Receiving Associates.
- Help assign receiving, putaway, picking, staging, cycle counting, and material-delivery activities.
- Monitor work throughout the day and help ensure priorities are completed accurately and on time.
- Serve as a resource for team members when questions or inventory issues arise.
- Communicate material shortages, receiving discrepancies, inventory concerns, and operational issues to leadership.
- Help train new employees on receiving, stockroom, inventory, forklift, and material-handling procedures.
- Reinforce expectations surrounding accuracy, organization, productivity, housekeeping, and safety.
- Lead by example by remaining actively involved in receiving, inventory, and material-handling responsibilities.
Receiving & Putaway
- Coordinate and participate in receiving incoming parts, materials, supplies, and other shipments.
- Safely unload deliveries using forklifts and other approved material-handling equipment.
- Verify received materials against packing slips, purchase orders, and receiving documentation.
- Confirm part numbers, quantities, and shipment information for accuracy.
- Inspect incoming materials for visible damage, shortages, incorrect quantities, or other discrepancies.
- Ensure received materials are accurately entered into the appropriate inventory or ERP system.
- Coordinate timely labeling, organization, and putaway of incoming materials.
- Ensure materials are stored in the correct bins, racks, shelves, or designated storage areas.
- Research and communicate damaged, missing, incorrect, or questionable shipments.
- Maintain accurate receiving documentation and ensure paperwork is completed appropriately.
Inventory Control & Stockroom Organization
- Help maintain an accurate, organized, and production-ready stockroom.
- Ensure parts and materials are consistently stored in their assigned locations.
- Monitor stockroom organization and correct misplaced or improperly stored inventory.
- Coordinate and participate in cycle counts and other inventory counts.
- Research inventory discrepancies and help identify potential causes.
- Support inventory adjustments and corrective actions when appropriate.
- Help maintain accurate part numbers, quantities, bin locations, and inventory records.
- Monitor material movement to reduce lost, misplaced, or damaged inventory.
- Identify recurring inventory issues and communicate opportunities for process improvement.
- Help prepare for physical inventories and inventory audits.
Production Material Support
- Coordinate the picking, staging, and distribution of parts and materials based on production requirements.
- Help prioritize material requests based on production schedules and operational needs.
- Ensure production departments receive the correct parts and materials when needed.
- Respond to urgent production material requests and help resolve shortages.
- Communicate potential material shortages or inventory concerns that could affect production.
- Coordinate the return of unused or excess materials to appropriate stockroom locations.
- Maintain an efficient flow of materials between Receiving, Stockroom, and Production.
- Work closely with Production, Purchasing, Inventory, Shipping, and other departments to resolve material issues.
- Help identify opportunities to improve material flow and reduce production delays.
Forklift & Material Handling
- Safely operate forklifts and other approved material-handling equipment.
- Move pallets, containers, parts, and production materials throughout the facility.
- Load and unload trucks and deliveries as required.
- Safely place and retrieve materials from designated storage locations.
- Ensure required pre-use equipment inspections are completed.
- Reinforce established forklift traffic and pedestrian-safety procedures.
- Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment immediately.
- Ensure materials are handled and stored appropriately to prevent product damage or workplace hazards.
Safety & Housekeeping
- Help maintain clean, organized, and safe receiving, stockroom, and material-storage areas.
- Ensure aisles, exits, racks, and work areas remain clear of unnecessary materials and hazards.
- Verify materials are properly stacked, secured, and stored.
- Reinforce established material-handling, forklift, and inventory safety procedures.
- Identify and immediately communicate spills, damaged materials, unsafe conditions, or other hazards.
- Ensure required PPE is used in designated areas.
- Support company Environmental, Health & Safety initiatives and established facility safety requirements.
- Lead by example in maintaining strong housekeeping and safety standards.
- Previous experience in manufacturing receiving, stockroom, warehouse, inventory control, or material handling required.
- Previous forklift experience required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain company-required forklift certification.
- Previous experience providing lead-level support, work direction, training, or coordination to other employees preferred.
- Experience receiving, verifying, organizing, and putting away parts and materials.
- Experience picking and staging materials to support manufacturing or production operations.
- Strong understanding of inventory accuracy and stockroom organization.
- Ability to accurately count and verify part numbers, quantities, and inventory.
- Ability to read packing slips, purchase orders, labels, part numbers, and receiving documentation.
- Basic computer and data-entry skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work based on changing production requirements.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with Production, Purchasing, Inventory, Shipping, and other departments.
- Dependable attendance and ability to work a consistent manufacturing schedule.
- Ability to work full-time on-site in Chocowinity, North Carolina.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous Lead, Senior Associate, Team Lead, or similar experience within a manufacturing stockroom, warehouse, or receiving operation.
- Current forklift certification.
- Experience with ERP, warehouse, inventory, or material-management systems.
- Experience coordinating receiving and putaway activities.
- Experience with cycle counting, inventory reconciliation, and physical inventory.
- Experience working with bills of material, work orders, or production material requests.
- Experience training employees on stockroom, inventory, receiving, or material-handling procedures.
- Boat, marine, automotive, RV, powersports, or other manufacturing experience.

We're looking for someone who can lead from the floor.
The right candidate should be comfortable unloading a delivery, researching an inventory discrepancy, helping an employee locate a part, reorganizing priorities when Production needs material urgently, and making sure the team understands what needs to be completed before the end of the shift.
This position requires someone who is organized, dependable, willing to hold a high standard for inventory accuracy, and comfortable providing direction while still working alongside the team.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This is a hands-on lead position working in an active manufacturing, stockroom, and receiving environment.
- Regular exposure to forklifts, moving equipment, manufacturing noise, dust, materials, and varying temperatures.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to repeatedly bend, kneel, reach, climb, push, and pull.
- Ability to safely operate a forklift and other assigned material-handling equipment.
- Ability to lift, carry, position, and move parts, boxes, materials, and supplies as required by the position.
