We are seeking an energetic, highly organized, and relationship-driven Manager of Special Events to help create exceptional experiences for our donors and supporters. This role is ideal for an event professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys bringing complex projects to life, and understands the power of exceptional hospitality and relationship-building.


As a key member of the Development team, you will plan and execute donor-focused events that deepen engagement, strengthen relationships, and advance SBA's mission. From intimate donor gatherings to large-scale national events, you will play a critical role in creating meaningful experiences that inspire supporters and fuel our work.


This is a full-time position based in our Arlington, Virginia headquarters and reports to the Director of Development.


What You'll Do

Create Exceptional Donor Experiences

  • Plan and execute donor events, both virtual and in-person, ranging from small gatherings to nationally recognized programs.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for donors, attendees, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure every event reflects SBA's mission, values, and commitment to excellence.
  • Develop personalized touchpoints that cultivate meaningful donor relationships.

Lead Event Planning and Logistics

  • Manage all aspects of event execution, including venues, catering, registration, travel, audiovisual needs, guest communications, and on-site operations.
  • Build detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Coordinate staff, volunteers, consultants, and vendors to deliver seamless events.
  • Anticipate challenges and proactively solve problems before they impact the attendee experience.

Drive Event Communications and Promotion

  • Partner with the Communications team to develop invitations, event websites, registration pages, agendas, presentations, signage, and promotional materials.
  • Ensure all event communications align with SBA's brand, voice, and messaging.

Measure Success and Strengthen Future Events

  • Track event performance, attendance, fundraising results, and engagement metrics.
  • Maintain accurate records and reporting within donor databases and event management systems.
  • Lead post-event follow-up, including donor acknowledgments, pledge fulfillment, invoice processing, and event evaluations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve future events and enhance donor engagement.

  • Ability to build strong relationships with donors, colleagues, and external partners.
  • Experience coordinating events, fundraising activities, hospitality programs, or donor engagement initiatives.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
  • Experience with CRM systems, event registration platforms, and event management software is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally and work evenings or weekends when events require.
  • A commitment to and passion for the pro-life mission.

 

Position Type & Work Schedule

This is a full-time position, salaried postion.  Normal office hours are Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:30 pm.  Evening and weekend work will be required around event times. 


Supervisory Requirements

There are no supervisory responsibilities with this postion.


Travel Requirements

Travel for events around the country will be required for this postion.
