Population: Children ages 5 years to 18years
Employment Type: Part-time, approximately 10 hours to start (Wednesdays 1-5pm and Fridays 8am-12:00pm)

Position Summary
Steps to wellness (IHLBLT- Healthy Weight Program) is seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist to join our Healthy Weight Program for children and adolescents. The Dietitian will provide family-centered nutrition assessment, education, counseling, and ongoing support to help children develop healthy eating habits, improve overall wellness, and achieve sustainable, age-appropriate health goals.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and families and will use a non-judgmental, culturally sensitive, and evidence-based approach to pediatric nutrition and healthy weight management.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments for children and adolescents participating in the Healthy Weight Program.
- Develop individualized, age-appropriate nutrition plans based on each child's nutritional needs, health goals, lifestyle, and family circumstances.
- Provide one-on-one nutrition counseling and education to children and their parents/caregivers.
- Educate families on balanced nutrition, portion awareness, meal planning, healthy snacks, hydration, and positive eating behaviors.
- Help families establish realistic and sustainable nutrition and lifestyle goals.
- Monitor participants' progress and adjust nutrition recommendations as appropriate.
- Collaborate with pediatricians, nurses, behavioral health professionals, physical activity specialists, and other members of the care team.
- Document assessments, interventions, goals, and follow-up care accurately and in a timely manner.
- Participate in group education sessions, workshops, or family wellness activities as needed.
- Provide culturally appropriate nutrition education that recognizes family preferences, food access, and socioeconomic considerations.
- Identify nutrition-related concerns that require referral to a physician or other healthcare professional.
- Maintain current knowledge of pediatric nutrition, healthy weight management, and evidence-based practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field.
- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN/RD) credential preferred/required based on program requirements.
- Experience working with children, adolescents, and families preferred.
- Experience in pediatric nutrition, weight management, community nutrition, or family wellness preferred.
- Strong communication, counseling, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
