Workforce Pipeline Specialist


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The Workforce Pipeline Specialist is responsible for supporting initiatives that connect individuals to careers in manufacturing while helping employers meet critical workforce needs.  Reporting to the Associate Director of Workforce Development, this Specialist serves as a key connector between job seekers, employers, training providers, and MassMEP staff.


Essential Tasks

Participant Career Support & Job Placement

  • Provide individualized participant support, including intake, assessment of skills and career interests, and development of a career plan. Maintain regular contact to track progress and help address employment barriers.
  • Use labor-market tools such as O*NET Online to identify transferable skills, occupational requirements, and skills gaps; help participants select training and credential pathways aligned with manufacturing employer needs.
  • Help participants prepare for employment through resume assistance, interview preparation, and workplace-readiness support.
  • Match participants with appropriate employment, apprenticeship, internship, and work-based learning opportunities.
  • Coordinate interviews, hiring activities, and onboarding support, serving as a liaison between participants and employers throughout the hiring process.
  • Follow up with participants and employers after placement to support job retention, address concerns, and identify opportunities for career advancement.

Employer Engagement & Program Administration

  • Conduct proactive outreach to manufacturing employers and maintain relationships that develop a pipeline of job opportunities for participants.
  • Identify employers’ current and emerging workforce needs, skill requirements, and hiring opportunities to inform participant referrals and training alignment.
  • Promote MassMEP workforce programs and talent services to employers and connect them with relevant resources and MassMEP staff.
  • Support MACWIC program coordination and administration, including assigned scheduling, participant tracking, and documentation activities.
  • Provide workforce program support, including scheduling, tracking deliverables, and assisting with events.
  • Enter program projects in Salesforce and maintain accurate records of participant services, job development, employer engagement, placements, and retention. Provide timely data and reports to support performance goals and grant, contract, and internal requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in workforce development, human services, education, business, or related field. Equivalent relevant experience may be substituted. 
  • 2+ Years’ Experience in workforce development, case management, career services, job placement, or job development
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn CRM and workforce systems.
  • Must be able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and have a flexible work schedule


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with manufacturing, technical, or industrial employers.
  • Knowledge of transferable skills analysis and career pathway mapping
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Teams, Google Workspace, Salesforce or other CRM
  • Familiar with O*Net Online or similar labor market and occupational research tools.



Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit and stand intermittently as required in an office environment
  • Some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 lbs)
  • Most duties are performed in office environment, occasionally there will be requirement to attend off site events or visit clients in manufacturing facilities

Travel

  • Occasional travel within the state required

$28.00 - $31.00 per hour
