Position Overview

The lead painter for the Walmart AMP and Walton Arts Center will take direction as a part of the Facilities Department. Work orders and planned maintenance restoration of walls, fences, railings and grounds will be executed on an ongoing basis. The Walmart AMP is a seasonal concert venue and as such the full-time work will be spread across a second property, the Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville. Work hours will vary based on concert schedule. Some overnight and weekend on call work will be required

Requirements

     

Principal Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Applies various finishes to buildings, rooms, or other structures, including primers or sealers
  • Prepares, cleans, and tapes all jobsites
  • Removes old paint coating, if necessary 
  • Mixes colors or oils to obtain desired color or consistency
  • Moves necessary materials around jobsite as assigned 
  • Cleans up worksite debris
  • Ability to research to expand knowledge of paint and coverings for solutions as needed. 
  • Represent Walton Arts Center / Walmart AMP at both on and off-site events, as requested
  • Maintain professional working relationships with teammates, fellow staff members from   other departments, vendors, patrons, and tenants of leased spaces
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor 
  • Maintain security and safety requirements as defined by operations guidelines 
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of solvents and paints 
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of plaster and drywall repair work 
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of various painting techniques and surface preparation 
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of airless paint spraying
  • Ability to safely operate various vehicles and equipment 
  • Has a working knowledge of leak detection and water restoration of drywall 
  • Has a working knowledge of pressure washing 
  • Has a working knowledge of efflorescence removal 
  • Furniture repair a plus 

Education, Training, Traits

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • OSHA certification Aerial and Scissor Lift certification a plus    
  • Comfortable with consistently adhering to the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, ethics and confidentiality
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary   customer service
  • Strong communications skills and the ability to interact with many different types of people
  • An on-going desire to learn and improve
  • Ability to work independently as well as with others to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of   instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal,   state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. 
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards

  • 3 years working professionally as a painter

  • Physical demands: In the work environment described below, position requires verbal and written conversation with others, sitting, standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching, strenuous lifting/moving objects up to 50 pounds, and use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Vision abilities required by the job include close vision. 
  • Work Environment: Work will be performed in office, open areas and Venue perimeters. Work environment may include exposure to potentially hazardous chemical solutions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time, including high heat, cold, humidity, and rain. Incumbent must meet a        flexible work schedule that may include evenings and weekends and available on call for emergencies. Work schedule may include extended shifts of up to 12 hours on event/show days. 
  • Must be able to walk up and down a steep incline (15 degree) throughout the workday while carrying tools and/or equipment. 
  • Must be able to safely climb and descend stairways of up to 50 steps throughout the workday. 
  • Must be able to bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach overhead, and work from ladders or elevated platforms as required. 
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. 
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly (on telephone) 
  • Must have a working cell phone and be willing to install basic applications and be willing to use it for work purposes. 
  • Must be able to endure sitting or standing for extended periods of time 
  • Must be able to endure standing or walking for extended periods of time on various surfaces such as concrete, grass, and inclined surfaces.  
  • Must be able to work in large, crowded environments, with flashing lights, loud music and noises, pyrotechnics, and cannons as part of shows and events 
Salary Description
$20.00
